@hookskat I know I'm repeating myself like a broken record, but insisting on the story being literally true is the Achilles tendon of Christianity. An allegory, a metaphor, a nice story, okay, but it ain't actually true, per se.
English

@OwnRules @PeteHegseth His own troops mock him as "Secretary of War Crimes".
English

@PeteHegseth I'm an atheist, and listening to the sheer hatred that comes off a psychopath such as yourself, I most certainly want no part of any god that condones your sadistic behavior.
In fact, you're doing wonders for atheism & rationality.

English

@PeteHegseth You're taking the name of the Lord in vain, mister. When an evil man claims to have a mandate from heaven, we know he's full of it.
English

@OG_Wick0 The Constitution calls for an enumeration of everyone. Right? Follow the Constitution, for once.
English

@Sinfulskin2 No tears, but I'll emit a sigh of relief. The guy's nuts and he's taking us down the pathway to ruin.
English

@PeteHegseth @POTUS Glory be to God??? Why make this a religious thing?? What kind of POTUS posts stuff like this? Why do you think that God's on your side? This is nuts. God doesn't bless this unholy war. It's just going to cause pain on all sides. Many will be harmed, including Americans.
English

@StevenCheung47 There has never been a POTUS who has worked harder for Putin!
English

@hookskat A story need not be literally true to be culturally significant!! Pushing the trope that the stories are literally true is the Achilles heel of Christianity.
English

@____testimony Same here. One author mocked the notion as a variant of the scapegoat concept.
English

The concept of Jesus dying for the sins of the world and being born again will never make sense to me.
Jesus died for the sins of the world, yet most of the world didn’t even know until Europeans told them.
And being 'born again' feels like just pretending to forget the old ways you’ve been living.

If a man rises in an empty tomb and there’s no contemporary Roman historian there to record it, did it actually happen?
English

@hookskat That's anybody's guess. Was he taking a nap or in a coma? We know he didn't rise from the dead. The Second Law of Thermodynamics tells us that time has an arrow. After some critical time frame, death isn't reversible.
English

@hookskat True, but we can easily sort them into 3 categories: obviously false, unclear, and seemingly true. People who delight in violence against foreigners go into one bin. Those who seemingly imitate Christ in words and deeds another bin.
English

Nothing is more disturbing than believing you can make that determination.
Danny@Truth_matters20
Ain't that the truth! 💯
English

@hookskat The idea of a Supreme Being taking offense at mockery must've originated as a Bronze Age thing. As human societies evolved, God changed, too. Unfortunately, for the Lord, evangelicals are easy to mock for wild ideas, sanctimony and their seeming obsession with gay-sex taboos.
English

@DX_Alphafg He has "never blamed others". That's news to me. He always blames others.

Melania Trump has spoken out publicly in defense of her husband, delivering an emotional statement that has quickly drawn attention across the political landscape.
“What is happening to my husband goes far beyond ordinary criticism. It has become deeply personal and, in many ways, profoundly unfair to a man who has devoted decades of his life to public service. I often ask myself how people can be so relentless. They are attacking a leader who carries immense responsibility every day — someone who works under constant pressure, scrutiny, and expectations that very few people could truly understand. Donald has never asked for sympathy, and he has never blamed others. Instead, he continues to work and lets his actions speak for themselves.”
“To me, Donald is more than just a president. He is a determined, disciplined, and resilient man. Rather than magnifying every mistake or adding more pressure through endless headlines and debates, people should recognize the sacrifices and strength it takes to stand at the center of such intense public attention.
He does not fight simply for power — he fights because he genuinely believes in the future of this nation.”

Cindy and I were married for 35+ years. Here is her obit from the Courier-Record. facebook.com/share/p/18D5WE…

English

@PeteHegseth That is absolutely ignorant. You rejoice in violence, which is disgusting to me.
English

@DrNeilStone Not entirely. I trust science. Some doctors don't deserve trust, such as the hospitalist whose bad decision to discharge my wife prematurely from the hospital led to her untimely death.
English

@WHLeavitt Absolutely not. It's not their call! They must uphold the Constitution. If you don't like birthright citizenship, then your only option is to try to amend the Constitution. Full stop.
