@jonoread I'm just surprised nobody swore!!! The News switching in and out between the 16 regional variant programmes is quite difficult as all 16 should finish their opt outs in unity ( which is why you often see regional presenters rush to finish or staring at the camera for "eternity"

@edgaralandough Depends. Outstanding bills with a service could in theory be passed to a debt collector. Best to cancel before you get charged.

The best random internet life hack I've ever found is this: When you sign up for a free trial of something, and have to enter a credit card number for an automatic bill at the end of the trial, use an old (empty) visa gift card number. The site will accept it, but you won't actually get charged if you forget to cancel.

@Tech_girlll Same way as flightradar does it. It doesn’t know the exact position at every given second, but it just keeps the movement steady based on the last report and then occasionally corrects itself.

@ash_twtz @dailygarbageman It’s not data from satellites. The gps chip triangulates the time difference from at least 3 satellites, but the map data comes from the internet and if there’s no data on the phone it must have been cached or Google maps offers you the ability to download areas in advance.

I'm calling it: there will be ENERGY LOCKDOWNS across Europe starting in approx 2-3 months time. Governments, to allow the US use of their military assets, will order their citizens to STAY AT HOME or use only walking & bicycles for travel to "SAVE OIL TO WIN THE WAR."

@levelsio Do you think it’s because you are high profile, or random? If it’s the former, can you not stick the VPS behind Cloudflare and then no one will ever know your IP and even that it’s on Hetzner?

I keep getting abuse reports on Hetzner about portscans on port 22 outbound But I have port 22 outbound blocked in Hetzner's firewall and yes it's enabled etc. I'm starting to think their abuse reports are some kind of abuse itself?

Every time you open Google Maps, your phone is talking to at least four satellites orbiting 20,000 km above Earth. Each one beams down ultra-precise timestamps basically saying, “It was 12:00:00.000001 when I sent this.” Your phone measures how long each signal takes to arrive, then triangulates your exact position. Simple, right? Here’s the twist by Einstein. As those satellites are moving fast (about 14,000 km/h), time slows down for them, a prediction of special relativity. But because they’re also far from Earth’s gravity, time speeds up … a prediction of general relativity. Put the two effects together, and their onboard clocks tick about 38 microseconds faster per day than clocks on Earth. That sounds tiny but if engineers didn’t correct for it, your GPS location would drift by roughly 10 km every single day. So every step you take, every Uber you call, every “turn left” you follow… all depends on Einstein’s equations quietly running behind the scenes. Mind bending @imacuriosguy @curiouswavefn
