Many years in the making! Our work on metastasis in non-small cell lung cancer is out now @Nature. Very grateful to the generous patients who have taken part in #TRACERx and our funders who made this work possible.
Charles Swanton@CharlesSwanton

Excited to share our recent @SwantonLab @NickyMcGranahan & @MariamJHanjani lab work on the genomic evolution of non-small cell lung cancer metastases in #TRACERx, out @Nature nature.com/articles/s4158… A quick thread [1/13]

More than doubled! 🚀
Lung Cancer Europe@LungCancerEu

🚨 #Lungcancer survival has more than doubled. New real-world data from France shows 3-year survival for lung adenocarcinoma rose from 16.3% (2000) to 38.6% (2020) driven by earlier diagnosis & targeted treatment. This is what progress looks like. But it must reach everyone who needs it. 🔗 @NEJMEvidence June 2025 evidence.nejm.org/doi/full/10.10… #LCSM

thelancet.com/journals/lanha… Happy to share 15 year follow-up of our study of early rituximab vs watchful waiting for advanced stage, asymptomatic, low tumour burden FL. Substantial delay in TTNT highlights the value of early R for pts seeking to defer/avoid chemo. #lymsm #lymphoma

Yet more evidence that somatic copy number alterations define the malignant transition in many carcinomas - this time in CRC from IBD. Love to know the underlying biology!
Trevor Graham@trevoragraham

Inflammatory bowel disease (#IBD) increases bowel cancer risk: 1/3 of patients with low grade dysplasia (LGD) will get cancer. This risk is very high &reason for treatment. But also major conundrum b/c 2/3 patients with LGD won't get cancer. Can we know who is really at risk? 1/3

We found that measurement (by lpWGS) of aneuploidy in LGD (burden & specific genetic alterations) very strongly predicts bowel cancer risk: >90% accurate over 5 years. We think the test is good enough (& cheap & easy enough) to be evaluated for clinical use in years ahead. [2/3]
