Meningitis is absolutely contagious. Generally, the bacteria come from nasopharyngeal carriage, so droplet spread occurs. It’s why we give antibiotic prophylaxis to family members and close contacts. Jacqui’s misinfo will kill people.

Meningitis is NOT contagious, so what’s with all the nonsense? As my friend Kat Watkins says on FB today: “Meningitis is an infection in the brain caused by toxins passing the blood brain barrier. You cannot 'catch' it, it's not contagious 🙄🙄 So all this closing of schools is just theatre. It's to scare you into making sure you jab yourselves and your kids up. How many of those who have presented with meningitis, had the covid vax? Since its a side effect? As well as a side effect of many other jabs 🤷🤷”

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC. May God bless America.

Priority could have been given while also adhering to principles of fairness and recognition that people have

Another patient dead Another PFD report The coroner was clear. The Info sent to the GP practice by NHS 111 was reviewed by a non medically trained staff member who decided not to escalate to a CLINICIAN- a MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL and did not add this to the medical record 😡

@drmattuk @Janeajnet PLAB didn’t get you a training post. GMC registration got you the eligibility to apply. The post itself came from a competitive application. You can get on the GMC register without PLAB anyway.

Hi Matt, it seems like we constantly forget that UKGs also invest thousands (oftens tens and in extreme cases hundred). The sunk cost fallacy is a poor argument but if we are going to apply it, by any measurement UKGs come out worse. We also don’t get any refunds FWIW.

7/ The Act applied to current applicants after applications had closed. IMGs who spent thousands on PLAB exams, visa fees, relocation and language tests found the rules changed mid-cycle at the offer stage. No refunds. No transitional provisions.

Matt hits a lot of salient nuanced points But the "fairness" towards IMGs of delaying prioritisation for a yr is inherently unfair on UK Grads this yr It's a shitty situation that nuance 5yrs ago may have prevented. Unfortunately, an emergency break has had to be pulled instead
