With the storms now behind me, I can finally let the cat out of the bag. A few years ago, I quietly began an LL.B programme at the Faculty of Law, Baze University. Last Friday, I wrote my final examination, closing a chapter I came close to abandoning twice. Law stretched me in ways I had not imagined. It sharpened my understanding of power, rights, justice, evidence, governance, property, conflict, and the delicate architecture by which societies hold themselves together. It taught me to listen beyond noise, think beyond instinct, and argue with greater discipline. I was blessed with an amazing cohort and a remarkable faculty of lecturers whose kindness, patience, and guidance steadied me through difficult seasons. I also owe a special debt of gratitude to my friend, @Meetmodis, whose encouragement first inspired my decision to study law. He went the extra mile to initiate my application for admission into the Faculty of Law, and that singular act became the beginning of this journey. Above all, this journey belongs as much to my family as it does to me. It is no surprise that I dedicated my final-year project to my wife and children, who bore the quiet cost of my absences, late nights, and divided attention with grace and love. PS: The Gen Zs dragged me into their signing-out ritual when I attempted to sneak away after the final paper, turning my fine shirt into a souvenir of this academic adventure.

Only yesterday Hajia said it was time to retire my jalabia that is exactly 10 years old (from hajj). My fav jumpsuit trouser is also 5 years old. This tweet looks like it was directed at me 🙆‍♂️
شو شو♡@Shukri_ibm

Jallabiya and boxers men come out. Some men spend all day at home with their wives in a 10-year-old Jallabiya, 5-year-old jumpsuit trousers, a singlet and boxers, or just a towel. They feel "comfortable," but they forget the effort. Look at the example of Abdullah ibn Abbas.

As a doctor, or a health professional, never fall into the trap of talking down on your colleagues. Patients lie more than the devil himself. Something happened today at work, when a patient presented. She started saying all manner of things about the hospital she was coming from not knowing that I know the doctor that saw her. She said they don't know what they are doing. That they are just collecting people's money. I called my colleague to find out why he didn't do what I expected of him. He told me that the patient signed DAMA and left because of financial reasons. Let's stay guided and united

🚨 BREAKING: Another Warri Doctor in ICU After Systemic Failure. We have just received a devastating update. A House Officer at Central Hospital, Warri, slumped yesterday and is currently fighting for his life in the ICU.  This is not just a "collapse." This is the tragic result of a system that abandoned him months ago. In February, this same doctor was beaten for 20 minutes by hoodlums arranged by a patient's relative. The first 5 minutes of that beating happened at the hospital gate, right where the security post was, while guards were slow to respond. He sustained severe facial and abdominal injuries. He has not been the same since. Since that day, he has been in and out of sickness, unable to function at full capacity, yet still trying to serve a system that failed to protect him. While his attackers were never caught and the hospital moved on, this young doctor carried the physical complications of that assault alone. Yesterday, during a meeting to discuss the recent Saturday attack on his colleagues, he excused himself because he felt unwell. On his way to the hostel to rest, he slumped and collapsed on the ground. If he had been the one on duty this past Saturday, he would have faced another round of beating while yet to recover from the first. Our hospitals are no longer safe. We are calling on the Delta State Government: Why were the February attackers never arrested? Why was this doctor left to suffer without justice? He was beaten for serving you. Now he is in the ICU. We demand justice. 🚨 BREAKING: 2 Doctors Brutally Assaulted at Warri Central Hospital. We have just received disturbing photos and reports of a savage attack that occurred yesterday on two medical doctors at the Central Hospital, Warri. A Senior Registrar in Paediatrics and a House Officer have both been brutally assaulted at Central Hospital, Warri, Delta State. The House Officer wasn't even on duty. He was only there to help a sick colleague when a father, who had just lost his baby after two months in an incubator, turned violent. The doctors did everything humanly possible to resuscitate the child, but the father pounced on them immediately after the baby passed. He slapped the Senior Registrar and landed heavy blows on the House Officer before security could even blink. It didn't stop there. Before he was finally subdued, the man went on a rampage, shattering ward windows and picking up a jagged glass shard as a weapon, screaming that he was going to kill the doctors. This is the reward for two months of care. This is the "thanks" for the doctor who stayed back on his off-day to help. We demand justice. This must not be swept under the carpet. The Delta State Police must charge the assailant under the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act (VAPP). No "begging," no out-of-court settlement. Any assault on a healthcare worker must lead to an automatic jail term.
