BTW, on CGRA/Systolic Array, delay buffers can be thought as "segregated rotating register files".

Say you have 32 registers. You decide that half of them will be able to rotate, while the rest are static.
You include a 4 bit offset register. If you're accessing one of the 16 static registers, that's just a simple table lookup, REGS[R]. If you're accessing a rotating register, then you add the offset with a modulo; ROTREGS[R+offset % 16].
This gives you a circular buffer of registers that can be remapped without actually needing to spend power moving data between registers.
You can do software pipelined loops without any modulo-scheduling unrolling blowing up your instruction cache. You can also do some tricks involving small thread pools for interleaving pointer-chasing code to hide memory latency.

IBM’s i operating system is gorgeous (and still updated)! Everything is an object, no binaries are native (translated bytecode, almost JVM-y), and pointers all have an absurd amount of (useful) metadata.
Technically it hides a lot of the underlying system…you don’t even get to choose if an object lives on RAM or disk! But, interesting to think how much safer software would be.
Overengineered maybe, but beautiful. Kind of reminds me of Symbolics, like an alternate reality LISP machine where everything is an object.

they're usually just "command arg1 arg2 etc" formatted. some of them are interfaces to a complex data structure (so if you reduce the list of commands against an empty data structure it generates the current data structure deterministically)
others have a more imperative/freeform behavior
this means when you talk to an llm to build code, you don't need to explain your complex data structure, you can just say "you have to generate these commands"
other times, you may just embed an llm right into the program, and then you can just tell the llm to give you the output in dsl commands, which is very llm-friendly because it's just text

So far, I haven't been able to make LLMs significantly help me with the hard parts of programming - designing code that is simple, general, and clear.
They're still so helpful for the other parts, that I rate them as a 10x productivity improvement at least, which is awesome.
