Taking my first soul cycle class today after years of making fun of it, I fear I won't be able to walk up stairs for a while

For all the shit CrossFit and Hyrox get they are a hugely net positive for the fitness world and you can’t really deny it CrossFit defined fitness as work capacity across broad time and modal domain. It made it measurable and accessible to to the general public while reviving sports like Olympic Weightlifting It redefined how people saw fitness and how concurrent training principles were applied It revolutionised the fitness industry as a whole and created many derivatives in terms of functional training A huge (underrated) aspect as well that for women it shifted from being as small as possible to what their bodies are capable of You can argue CrossFit athletes, especially practitioners of the sport of CrossFit are the true hybrid athletes Obviously there it has its flaws, where intensity can be too much of a focus point or it introduced movements that maybe shouldn’t have seen the light of day but not everything is perfect It led the way for Hyrox, since it’s more accessible than CrossFit due to its simplicity and horrible CrossFit (the company) management during Covid and the death of one of the athletes during the Games Hyrox attracts hundreds of thousands of new participants and is the fastest growing sport nowadays I read a stat that this year alone over 1.000.000 people will have done a Hyrox race. That’s an insane number Which in turn is part of the running boom we’re seeing Like it or not, these ‘functional’ fitness races and events is what lots of people love It’s not just the activity itself but also the community aspect, the competitive nature of man and the variation it brings in training Those sports are here to stay and everything that gets people to move more should be encouraged

@dru_skee @svan81 @HankFrank Congrats! I've read the book. How long are your 70% MHR easy runs? Do you actually do the long runs at 70% MHR as well?

UNFORTUNATELY, the formula for getting faster at running is: 1. Easy pace should feel almost embarrassingly easy. 2. One hard effort a week. Maybe two. Done with intent. 3. Strength train. Twice a week. Every week. 4. Sleep like your training depends on it because it does. 5. Eat enough. Then eat more. 6. Cross train on the bike like it’s part of the plan, not a backup. 7. Show up on the days you don’t feel like it. Nobody wants to hear it. Everybody wants the shortcut.

UNFORTUNATELY, the formula for a body that doesn't age is: 1. Sleep before midnight. 2. Eat protein at every meal. 3. Walk after eating. 4. Mainly whole foods . 5. Magnesium every night. 6. Wild Roman cream every morning. 7. Workout daily . 8. And showing up even on the days you don't feel like it. Nobody wants to hear it. Everybody wants the shortcut.

Trump is unfortunately doing everything I would be doing if I were president: 1. Threatening nuclear war for fun 2. Calling other countries pussies 3. Sending astronauts to the moon
