Please read my first first author paper, out now in AJB! Take-home: range-wide intraspecific variation in plant traits, driven by env conditions, alter herbivore success. Struggled w/ this ms for SO long. HUGE thanks to incredible editors & reviewers! They used my photo too :')

40% of the talks in a session I just attended were zoom talks. Should have saved the airfare and watched from home :) #ESA2023

This color change triggered by pollinator phenomenon is more common than some may expect - for example Lantana camara too, yellow are newly opened unpollinated flowers, while red ones are older and pollination triggered the production of more anthocyanin. Plants are smart! 🤓

Forget-me-not fun fact: the yellow ring at the flower’s centre fades to white after pollination, signalling to insects there’s no more nectar. The insects therefore learn to visit the flowers that haven’t yet been pollinated, ensuring no forget-me-not flower is forgotten 🤙

@thedigitalyenta maybe this sounds cringe idk but meal replacement shakes. I have a tub of soylent for such occasions + I take multivitamins. I know it's not a great answer but sometimes liquid paste is better than nothing

Domino's really let me down today... I don't know how they managed to accomplish this, but their new Loaded Tots were the worst item of theirs I've ever had. Find out more in today's review! youtu.be/Y8_HleQvXOQ

@WVFRM @MKBHD also @AndyManganelli was almost right abt birds, except to be convergent it needs to be unrelated lineages coming to the same trait, otherwise it's just inheritance. The clearest example is birds & bats; converged on wings & flight, but use different bone structure to get there.

My autism essay, “The Story of Autism: How We Got Here, How We Heal,” is 7429 words. It includes a narrative on how I cured myself of autism, and has parts on glyphosate and neurodiversity. I read ~140 scientific papers for it. Thank you for reading. marsreview.org/issue2/the-sto…

I try to use Twitter sparingly these days, but if you're at #ESA2022 let's talk about trait-based approaches to studying: climate effects, ecosystem function, conservation bio, etc.
