The math on this image is insane.
New Horizons transmitted at 2,000 bits per second from 3 billion miles away. Slower than a 1990s dial-up modem. It took 16 months to download all the flyby data.
The spacecraft had to hit a target box 100km wide, arriving within 150 seconds of schedule, after 9 years of flight. Miss it and the preloaded observation commands point at empty space.
Ten days before arrival, the spacecraft crashed and went into safe mode. Engineers had 72 hours to restore everything.
The probe is now 5 billion miles out, still whispering data back to Earth. We got 50 gigabits of Pluto photos using technology slower than your phone’s bluetooth.

It took 9 years and 3 billion miles to get this shot. Pluto’s icy Mountains.

Strawberries? From Dyson?!
Yes, the same Dyson that reimagined the vacuum cleaner… is now reimagining farming. And it’s brilliant.
When I think of Dyson, I picture futuristic fans — not vertical farms.
But here we are.
The innovation?
Dyson has developed a high-tech vertical farming system that looks like something out of a sci-fi film:
🍓 Two Ferris-wheel-style rigs rotating trays of strawberries toward optimal light
🤖 Robots picking only the ripest fruit
🌱 UV light preventing mold
🔁 Recycled heat and CO₂ powering the entire system
📈 The result? 2.5x more strawberries per square meter.
This isn’t just farming. It’s systems engineering. Precision robotics. Design thinking applied to food production.
And in my opinion, it's a reminder that even the most traditional industries can be transformed - when automation, AI, and imagination come together.
So, what’s next?
Which “low-tech” industry do you believe is ready for a radical, high-tech reinvention?

The Incal is one of the most influential graphic novels in the history of comics. It was first published in 1980 and created by Chilean writer Alejandro Jodorowsky together with French artist Moebius (Jean Giraud) ✨ @moebiusofficiel
The story follows John Difool, a low-class detective caught in a cosmic odyssey filled with mysticism, science fiction, social criticism, and philosophical symbolism.

The Deep Space Network is oversubscribed and unavailable for commercial space missions.
Commercial alternatives are limited, fragmented, and unreliable. Even if they worked well, there are not enough.
We are building new, modern infrastructure. Designed to scale.

In 1999, I was assigned to design the expansion pack to Age of Empires 2. I chose The Conquerors as the theme, and wishing to have 4 civs (as we had on Rise of Rome), I chose the Spanish, the Aztecs, the Huns, and the Mayans.
The project went ahead extremely well. We were almost completely finished, 5 weeks ahead of schedule as of January 2000. I was excited to move onto Age of Empires 3.
Then Microsoft called and we had an important conference call.
