Más de 190 naciones acordaron en Suiza un tratado para combatir la biopiratería, tras más de veinte años de negociaciones en el marco de la ONU. Se llama "biopiratería” a la apropiación privada del desarrollo y la investigación de recursos genéticos o de sus correspondientes conocimientos tradicionales.
