@LunaAlphaLilita @MGecko117 Imagine if we finally got the Atlas. Which was supposed to be a big sub but was cut because Below Zero's plans lead it to be a small map rather than a large open one.

I consider myself a proponent of marine conservation, and I’m personally fine with not being able to kill the creatures in Subnautica 2. That said, I strongly disagree with the devs’ snarky and frankly disrespectful attitude. They could have easily said something along the lines of: “We’ve heard your feedback, but our game is built on a different vision.” Telling players to “go play a different game instead” is just about the worst way a developer can respond to legitimate feedback
Pirat_Nation 🔴@Pirat_Nation

Subnautica 2 devs say "go play Sons of the Forest" if you don't like its lack of violence. The game focuses on underwater exploration, and you cannot kill most creatures. On the official Discord, one player asked why killing is impossible in SN2 as it makes no sense. Level designer Artyom O’Rielly replied, “This is not a killing game, so go play Sons of the Forest if you want to kill.” Another developer said, “The team discusses this a lot inside the studio and may let players catch small fish for food, but large creatures will stay safe so the game feels right.” This idea comes from the first Subnautica, as the team wants players to discover things, feel wonder, and live with ocean life instead of fighting it. A fan-made mod already lets players kill creatures, and the studio is reading all feedback. It plans to add better ways to scare off creatures but will not add weapons. Early access is expected to last up to 3 years.

@hertzdonut2309 @epidemic_pain @Pirat_Nation TBF their EA statement says they released in EA to listen to the community, we bring up a question about a wierd design decision of unkillable aggressive predators and this what we get for an answer: "go play another game". Not the best look in my opinion

@OmegaGaming119 @Pirat_Nation So it took so long that it wasn't worth it? Might as well just remove it🤷‍♂️. I love violent games, I played Subnautica without killing a damn thing and enjoyed the hell out of it. This is a completely valid design choice either way.

@Endorithic @cinderwhip @Pirat_Nation Like them going into idle mode for 2s and then returning to murdering your ahh, or the buggy flares that each take 1/20th or your inventory space? Yeah, I'd at least like them to mostly turn to fleeing after being hit with an axe

@GeorgeInTheMeta @Pirat_Nation They said it that way because they’ve already stated it several times so when people keep asking it’s important for the devs to put their foot down the game should be made to the devs standards and their vision since it’s their game so that’s what they wanna do

@DarknessDevelop @Pirat_Nation But... but surely roasting them with lasers isn't as bad as hitting it with your axe and making them at least run away. @FabricDynosaur @Fingusa @Ceo__of__Swag @Pirat_Nation Its a survival videogame set in a fictional environment, I'm not going to go on a fish massacre if I'm given an option to defend myself in a game where the fish literally has 2 states: idle when I'm far and being a major F-ing annoyance if it so much as sees me...

American is furious, she’s yelling at her TV She spent around $40 to buy the Hunger Games movie collection on Amazon She wants to watch Hunger Games Catching Fire. The movie says “unavailable” even though she bought it Many people don’t know this but when you “buy” a movie or bundle on Prime Video, you’re not actually owning the film like a DVD or Bluray. You’re buying a non-transferable license to stream/download it as long as Amazon has the rights from the studio Licensing deals expire, get renegotiated, or the rights move to another streamer (HBO Max, Netflix, etc.). When that happens, even paid content can vanish from your library or show as “currently unavailable.” Amazon’s own terms of use state this in the fine print: “Purchased Digital Content will generally continue to be available… but may become unavailable due to potential content provider licensing restrictions or for other reasons, and Amazon will not be liable to you if Purchased Digital Content becomes unavailable.” If you’re going to buy a movie, don’t buy it on Amazon. Always buy the physical disk

My favorite “cursed” computer bug was when AMD’s Zen 2/3 would occasionally play robotic / demonic audio randomly for a few seconds while also freezing the system. The reason was pretty funny. Windows 11 upgrades were…kind of a mess. The TPM 2.0 requirement had a ton of people enabling fTPM in the BIOS for the first time. Turns out, AMD’s implementation had been borked for years, but no one really noticed until it was “forced” at scale from Win11 requirements. Basically Win11 would occasionally say “hey TPM, need you to do a security thing”. If you *didn’t* otherwise have a dedicated chip, the request took a (longer) fTPM path. Normally, the TPM needs a place to store secrets/keys/etc. fTPM is really just…software. AMD had to awkwardly piggyback off of the motherboard’s slow BIOS chip to store that data (instead of NVRAM like a real TPM). Apparently a bug would occasionally occur where the CPU had to pause all other operations until that fTPM read/write finished. Of course, this caused a HUGE tail latency spike, and considering that audio is quite real-time…your soundcard would just loop whatever small piece was in the buffer which occasionally sounded horrifying. AMD eventually fixed it with a AGESA update, but there was a rare / short period in which buying a *physical* security device (hardware TPM) significantly reduced system latency!

My proposal: What if valve puts a bunch of specs with hitboxes inside the thick walls and behind map walls and in floors etc? Wouldn’t that mess up wall hacks purpose since the cheater will just be seeing boxes everywhere

@AaronBergman18 My annoyance with this is the use of both unit multipliers and dividers at the same time. e.g. 10,000mAh powerbank, so it's 10,000 * 1 thousandth of an amp-hour i.e. 10Ah. It's like saying 10,000 mL instead of 10L.

@BrunoGoldberg @GrandProtector @quazi6571688847 "work" = use the "shoot yourself with an arrow" bug. I mean it takes more "skill" than using a rocket but still. It also didn't really feel all that useful with the bug because the world height was smaller and it didn't feel like an endgame item

@Andrew140904 @AfroZer0 I don't think there is an official DDLC port for mobile devices, so you can't base your mod of what doesn't exist. Also I believe sharing assets between android and especially ios apps is nearly impossible anyways and you can't include original assets so it won't work

The new DDLC IP Guidelines are pretty interesting. I recommend people do read it on their own, teamsalvato.com/ip-guidelines, but for some of the interesting parts. You can upload fan games and mods on Steam, itch, and gamejolt! Only problem is that it has to use all original assets if you end up uploading to these places, which definitely stops like 70% of mods 💀 but the few that don't can be added! But it's not too bad, since I don't think many people were expecting mods to be on these places anyway. It is very good news for a lot of fangames though since they're not allowed to use DDLC assets anyway.

@AfroZer0 The easiest way I can see this check being implemented is either Steam API for DDLC+ or a textbox asking you for a path to a DDLC installation for the original (since it is free and can be moved around)

@AfroZer0 I don't think it has to be a hard dependency, this is mostly due to copyright and IP protection (as in you can't just give people DDLC as a part of your game), same reason eg. minecraft modloaders don't give you a minecraft.jar but rather a patcher that modifies the one you have
