So today’s NHC outlook represents more of what I was discussing on yesterday’s X post regarding #94L. Conditions for possible development improve late this coming week in the central Atlantic. NHC discusses this too. Yes, this is late for these types of systems to come across and develop, but not impossible. Any future USA involvement would depend on steering from larger scale troughs and ridges which are very difficult to time the farther out you go. Looking ahead, another eastern USA trough precedes invest #94L and guidance wants to keep it going west with the trough lifting out. We have seen the majority of our Atlantic systems turn. This one stays weaker and south. This time of year large scale features like troughs and ridges can come and go more quickly and/or also dominate larger areas longer in time so it’s almost impossible to time anything at 10 days or more especially a tropical system from the deep tropics. Regardless we eventually knew this would be a back loaded season and between 94L and anything that could evolve from the Central America Gyre we must remain vigilant, but not paranoid. So many of you have been through so much I wish we could just turn it off, but that’s not how nature works. We do not control the weather, I promise you. There are no goal posts at this time for 94L or whatever it could become. We will continue to monitor that and anything else that tries to evolve.

HEADS UP: Unfortunately I’ve seen people sharing an old Hurricane Helene cone saying that Nadine is coming to Florida. There’s no Hurricane Nadine at the moment. These people and pages do that for clicks, wrongly taking advantage of the stressful situation at hand. There is the potential for development over the next 2 weeks in the Caribbean, but it’s too early to know where it goes and how strong…or even if it forms! Avoid that other stuff online. If anything attempts to develop, you’ll know about it on this page. In the meantime, take care of yourself, enjoy some sunshine, clean-up as we gradually transition back to normal and get power back across the state. Thanks everyone, hope you were all safe during the storm. - Matt Devitt WINK Weather

Nerd Post: I spent day planting devices around Tampa Bay. All devices are calibrated for sea-level pressure & are now collecting high-quality data in controlled environments. Assuming #Hurricane #MILTON comes ashore here, I'll have treasure trove of core data.

@tropicalupdate What’s your take on people calling for creating a new Cat 6 for these kind of storms. It seems these big storms have been happening going as far back as Labor Day in 1935.

Latest GFS - We are all too worried about the skinny spaghetti model or NHC track line. The storm is much bigger and impacts much wide.

Overnight 00z Hurricane models are in. Stronger nearing landfall. 939, 939, 940, 947mb. Not a good trend. I believe in these models more than most. Boarded up today because of them. See ya in the AM. spaghettimodels.com

Latest 06z Hurricane models just ran on tropicaltidbits.com. Staying on similar tracks towards the Tampa Bay area for landfall. Still strong in the Major Hurricane pressure ranges. And wider than now pushing more water and extending impacts along the coast and inland. spaghettimodels.com

I know we get caught up in Hurricane speeds and strength but there are other impacts to talk about. Flooding rains from rainfall... and existing saturation will be likely trouble. They just upped to a rare pink HIGH chance across middle Florida. Other areas obviously too. spaghettimodels.com

#MILTON is expected to grow in size and remain an extremely dangerous hurricane when it approaches the west coast of Florida on Wednesday. A large area of destructive storm surge will occur along parts of the west coast of Florida on Wednesday. This is an extremely life-threatening situation and residents in those areas should follow advice given by local officials and evacuate immediately if told to do so. 🌊 NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center storm surge forecasts are given in feet above ground level. 🌊Adding to the destructive power of surge, battering waves may increase damage to buildings directly along the coast.

@kylesweeney905 @tropicalupdate It's a cope. Bottom line do what you can to be safe, don't be found floating somewhere at the end of a storm. Prepare for every storm, regardless, can't save everyone sadly.

I wish the NHC would have landfall intensity. There is always so much shift in emotion between points if landfall is in between. Prime example tonight. So many think the storm will be weaker at landfall because there is an H inland. Almost shifts some to have less concern. IMO.
