OK. Let's talk risks of taking Ozempic, Mounjaro, Wegovy, Zepbound. Are these drugs dangerous? Do they kill? Will the be taken off the market? This is a great interview by @RubinReport_ I have tons of respect for @JillianMichaels and @drdrew and @DrJBhattacharya Most of you know that I have been early to use this class of drugs. We are still learning a lot. But they've been around for over ten years. Byetta. Victoza. Trulicity. If they were killers and as dangerous as this program makes them sound they would have been off the market years ago. Most people are just learning about them now. They are some of the best and most miraculous drugs I've seen in my practice. I've used them heavily and safely with very little side effects. But you have to select patients correctly, you have to monitor them properly and you have to dose them correctly. If you are a young man or woman who just want to have a thinner sexier body and have to lose 5-10 lb these drugs are dangerous and the risk to reward ratio is wrong. If you buy products through telemedicine or via the net without a doctor following you with labs and exam, you're doing it wrong. If you have more than 25-30 lb to lose and or have diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea, insulin resistance, syndrome X, PCOS, or other risk factors then you are on the right path. You must exercise. You must eat protein. Tons. You must use the lowest dose to achieve your goal. You must avoid muscle loss. You must check your pancreas and thyroid. I've not sent a patient for bariatric surgery for years because of these drugs. I've gotten patients off of insulin and reversed heart disease and sleep apnea with those drugs. Many patients have also stopped addictions like smoking, alcohol nail biting etc. In the wrong patient they can be devastating. In the right patient, properly monitored like all other drugs, at the right dose, these are miraculous and life changing (for the better) drugs. Would love to discuss with any of you as I forsee 20-25% of Americans on these drugs soon.
