CUTTER AND THE NEWFIES Now most people know that amongst the Canadian population, the Newfoundlanders get quite teased and poked fun at. Today Cutter got a glimpse of why: The Situation: it's the first hole and the rain is coming down in buckets. Everyone is managing their best to stay dry, but one guy has no rain gear and he's wearing a thick Patagonia jacket that is absorbing every drop falling from the sky. Newfie finds himself in the green side right bunker and proceeds to enter the bunker from the very top of this STEEP 8 foot face. Gravity pulls Newfie down the hill so fast that his short legs just couldn't keep up with the speed he had attained and now Newfie faceplants and rolls to the bottom of the bunker. On the way down, Newfie had lost his 2 wedges and his tiny umbrella. Newfie now looks like a chicken thigh covered in Shake & Bake since the sand has completely coated his Patagonia jacket and pants. After 3 failed attempts of extracting the ball from the depths of hell, Newfie decides to throw his ball onto the putting surface. During the arduous process of extraction, Newfie's umbrella had been resting in the bunker in an upside-down position and the torrent of rainfall had been filling up the bucket(umbrella). Newfie grabs the umbrella handle and swings the concave bucket over his head only to have about a gallon of rainwater pour down his neck into his soaked garments. Now let's fast-forward to the 18th hole. The winds are now howling and the rains have returned. Newfie reaches the 18th green side bunker in about 6 shots and this time Newfie goes to put down his umbrella, but realizes that the winds will blow it away. So after 3-4 handfuls of sand are filled into Newfies umbrella, he realizes that it's stable and won't blow away. Newfie again struggled in the sand and after the 3rd attempt he once again chucked his ball onto the putting green. By this time, the other 3 golfers have now putted out and they're encouraging Newfie to hurry up as they have lunch reservations. Newfie asks that Cutter just pick up his golf ball. Cutter obliges and watches as Newfie grabbed his umbrella, swung it over his head to protect himself from the rain and got cascaded with an avalanche of sand. You can't make this stuff up! Fortunately, Newfie's hotel room was close by. Cutter looks forward to hearing the stories about how the afternoon round went at The Hay.

Augusta Diaries Thur: -Man, this course is haaarrddd haha. Personally, what I remember about watching the Masters as a kid are these runs of birdies coming in and the winner taking the trophy with birdies and eagles. But the other side is that the margins are so so tiny. The difference between a great shot and a horrible result is so so small. -Great ex is 3 today. You had to land a wedge in a 4 yard area to hit that green. I landed it too short and came off the green. Zach landed it a little too far and it’s over the green. Similar thing on 15, that green (especially being newer) is so firm, I didn’t hold the green landing the ball a foot past pin high. -The greens are quite firm but I never once thought it was out of control. It was a great set up and a set up with some really difficult pins. -Because the margins are so small, those little gusts have a profound effect on the results. A little off and you’re making bogey or double in a heartbeat.
