the Coastal Athletic Association in 2007 vs 2026 3 founding members moved FBS, as well as non-founding members ODU and Georgia State should losing the bulk of your conference to the FBS be seen as a victory or a failure for the CAA? is it a win that they’re still around at all?

@thestustustudio When my daughter was there during covid, VT regularly advised students how to tattle on others whom were (gasp) gathering in groups larger than 4, or groups outside their 'pod' (whatever the fuck that was). It infuriated me.

Virginia Tech once had a bias-reporting system expansive enough to log a report because a student overheard several men in a residence hall privately talking trash about women in a snowball fight and calling them “not athletic.” That example made it all the way into Speech First v. Sands, where Justice Thomas cited it while criticizing Virginia Tech’s bias-response regime. But now, when an event is held on campus where students are told they are “a branch of the resistance,” praised as part of the “mujahideen,” and urged to target supply chains, weapons infrastructure, and “blow up ports,” Virginia Tech suddenly wants to hide behind “not an official campus event.” So private dorm-room banter about snowballs was apparently reportable. A campus event encouraging revolutionary militancy is somehow not their problem. That is not a serious standard.

My husband worked in D1 athletics when we were first married and one of the most insane stories of bureaucracy run amok is as follows: My husband was in charge of booking the rooms and meals on away trips for the MBB team. The team would use the hotel ballroom to watch film the night before the game and they would pay for “snacks” at night for the team. Often this would be charged as $25-30 per person for an ice cream sundae bar or similar. Well, the university tells everyone to find ways to save money. So my husband determines an easy way is to stop buying the ice cream sundae package and instead just buy some ice cream from the local grocery store. He does this on a few trips. A few weeks later he gets called into accounting and grilled because the receipts for the grocery store ice cream don’t itemize per ice cream bar. “How do we know how many they are getting?” My husband was baffled, who freaking cares how many ice cream bars they are getting, we are saving money. Nope. The accounting dept just wanted clean line items - one charge per person. My husband went back to charging the university for the ice cream bar at the hotel and no one ever complained or questioned. And this is why universities are broke and why I never donate any money.

What radicalized you?   For me, it happened back in my freshman year of high school in the early 2000s. The head coach of our hockey team believed in getting the team home to our own beds after road games no matter what instead of staying in hotels. Hotels were a distraction. With no hotel costs, he wanted to use the money to upgrade our road meals. Nothing fancy, just basic meat and potatoes type places like Cracker Barrel or Perkins instead of cold Little Caesars on a dark January bus ride home across rural North Dakota. The athletic director and superintendent shut the idea down and basically just absorbed the savings from his no hotel policy into the athletics budget. So after that our coach, the other assistants, the parents, and us players started fundraising in the off‑season in hopes to get better meals on the road. The first year went great. We raised a ton and were easily able to have nicer sit down meals on every single trip. We all sat together at big tables, had actual food choices, ate healthier and built even more camaraderie. It was fantastic all around. But then other sports teams and parents caught wind. It was seen as unfair. The AD, principal, and superintendent demanded we stop, in order to keep things “equal” across all sports at our public school. They even tried to force our coach to hand over the privately raised money so it could be redistributed. Thankfully, our coach was an old‑school Canadian ex‑pro hockey player who didn’t take shit from anyone, and told them to F off, and we continued with our meatloaf road meals as planned. The principal and AD eventually backed off, but the superintendent had a vendetta against our team and probably mostly just our coach so he never stopped. He even went as low as instructing bus drivers not to take us to the restaurants we’d planned for on the road. Our coach always overrode it, once even driving the bus himself since he had the license from coaching cross‑country. Over the next few years we continued the fundraising for better meals. Some of the other teams, and other parents continued to badger the supt., our coach and even sometime us players about it instead of just joining us in fundraising. Watching peers and especially some of our own “leaders” work so hard to sabotage a positive thing for us was eye opening and really stuck with us. It gave us an early look at how petty and nefarious and systems and people can be, even at the local level. And honestly, in the end, all it did was radicalize about 30 teenage hockey players for the rest of their lives who walked away believing “equality” was the dirtiest word in the English language. 😂

How did an assassin get on the roof in Butler? How did an assassin get into the lobby of the hotel where the most powerful man in the world is when he is supposed to be guarded by the best of the best? Something is wrong with the security. Why so?

VIRGINIA UPDATE Many have asked what the total yes/no decreases were statewide. In total, 117,991 votes were subtracted. 56,559 were "yes" 61,432 were "no". So more "no" votes were removed, but totaled a little less than 5,000. If you take away the Chesterfield debacle, the numbers are much different... in the rest of the state the "no" votes removed were about 13,000 more than the "yes" votes. As I said, the decreases happening at all show shoddy, careless work. And maybe by design... when they make you stop expecting the numbers to be exactly right, it makes it easier to hide and "explain away" true fraud. Now the Fairfax thing... that's where we should be looking for fraud. Not that Fairfax was necessarily the only place it happened, but it was the worst by far.

It's worth recapping just how many state laws Virginia Democrats violated in order to actually do this referendum. They kept a special session open for two years, pushed it through with early voting already underway in last year's governor's race, and failed to publish it three months before an election. They wrote an extremely misleading ballot question, also in violation of the law, that claimed creating a 10D-1R map was a "temporary measure" to "restore fairness," in order to influence a particular result. And yet, a referendum passing by less than 5 points will allow them to create a 10D-1R map in a state that voted for Kamala by 6 points. If only Republicans would use the power they gain to ruthlessly govern instead of lecturing us about 'norms and procedures.'

Tonight , Virginians walked calmly and steadfastly into the ballot box to defeat fascism by taking away the voting power of almost the entire states land mass and instead centralizing political power entirely into the suburbs of washington DC.

Almost every county in Virginia moved hard to the Right compared to 2025 and even 2024. Most of Rural Virginia appears poised to perform Trump's margins by enough to shift the entire state to NO....if NOVA followed suit as well. But NOVA did not follow suit. Most Northern Virginia counties moved to the LEFT of 2024. And that's the ball game. Virginia is under hostile occupation. We are ruled out of Fairfax County, and there's nothing we can do about it.

The proposed Virginia 7th District - the "Lobster" isn't just insane because of the shape. It's insane because people *west of Shenandoah* will be represented by NGO consultant in Arlington 3 hours away. And that consultant will cross 5 districts to (never) visit them.

@jrareyouamoron @ImMeme0 @Stallion2011 Reminds me of the folks saying that it didn’t matter about the driver who killed an autistic kid after he was charged with a *third* offense of driving without a license. “It could’ve been anybody” yeah but it was the dude who shouldn’t have been on the road. Dumbasses.

HOLY MACRO! Unhinged immigrant driver completely lost her sh*t on a passenger just for comforting her over watching a show on her phone while driving. Right after, the driver accused the customer of speaking too loud and called her a “rich American white b*tch” and went on a full rant about how she works all day and only makes $50, saying she’s tired. Lyft got contacted and is now reviewing the incident. Democrats sold these immigrants the American Dream but conveniently forgot to tell them you actually gotta work for it, especially in Gavin Newsom’s California.

I can see why Sunbelt folks were upset initially with the LA Tech add. If you have a bigger league new additions have to drive that revenue figure significantly higher to be worth the add. Not sure if having another Louisiana school is going to do that.
The CUSA Report@The_CUSA_Report

Thank you to @propublica for publishing this information. @ConferenceUSA or @SunBelt FY2024 Who had more revenue? CUSA Who had less expenses? CUSA Who had less liabilities, more assets, and turned a larger profit? CUSA And we did it without Southern Miss, Marshall, & ODU.
