@rowanfornow Pretty sure China is richer than Russia, the reason why russia gdp per capita is higher than russia in both nominal and ppp is because the number is more inflated by natural resource mining while it is less so for china which is far less dependent on that.

@BirthGauge While in fact China of the 1970s was less crowded than Egypt or Bangladesh were, the fertility rate was already showing every sign of dropping naturally, & they didn’t stop even after the got TFR below 1.6 in the 1990s. They kept the policy officially until the early 2010s!!

@BirthGauge Even without One-Child Policy, China would see the TFR hit below than 2.1 by mid 1980s. Not that help by late 1970s, China had alarmingly too low birth rate for low income country standard, below than 3.

@ViktorPitman @BirthGauge The number is skewed by provinces like Tibet that has incredibly low density of 3 people/km2 but only because most of tibet is uninhabitable. So most chinese live in areas far more dense than people think.

Vietnam has one of the highest rates of support for gay marriage in Asia (65%). Even ahead of Thailand! (60%) Way ahead of "Reddit Island" Taiwan and ultra-rich Singapore (both 45%). Remarkably, that's despite its lingering poverty ($5k GPDpc) and relatively high TFR (2, not 1). I wonder if Vietnam will become the second Communist country to legalize gay marriage after Cuba in 2022.

the pilot. You should never assume that's the case because it causes confusion amongst the audience. Overall, the pilot is a disappointment because of the lack of substance there is. this pilot is 30 minutes by the way. I can genuinely write a better start to this then they.
