In the years leading up to the Grenfell Tower fire, Westminster boasted of a 'bonfire' of building regulations. For decades, politicians have allowed corporate greed to turn safe homes into potential death traps. Deregulation costs lives. @MattWrack on @BBCBreakfast

For years, we've warned that deregulation would leave buildings and the public unsafe. The Grenfell Tower fire exposed the tragic consequences of ignoring our warnings. Government must listen and act to prevent another disaster.

1/2 ANGRY I have just been to the scene of the disturbance in #Hartlepool last night. I lived here when I was a child. I'm sickened at what a few have done and the fear they have created in my community. I took the love & support of @fburegion3 to people of that community.

Today,one of our Comrades suffered a medical emergency at an incident & is in a critical but stable condition in hospital. Cleveland FBU Brigade Exec want to pay tribute to those on the incident ground whose actions were life-saving Our thoughts are with our brother & his family
