@tostrov @nuclearbeers That aides but the compaction is the issue too, a turf plant is a living tissue, similar to a human . Think of the outer grass plant ( cuticle) as your epidermis, imagine someone standing in one spot , add 90 degrees and saturated soils #turfcare

GOLF TIPS FROM UNCLE CUTTER mainly aimed at the amateur playing the resort or private courses 1. before arriving at the 1st tee, put some tees ball markers and a divot repair tool in your pocket...preferably the non glove hand pocket 2. before arriving at the 1st tee, acquire a scorecard and pencil 3. when coming out of a bunker, exit on the same entry trail and be sure to tap off the sand on the bottom of your shoes(it's a pro move) 4. when marking your ball on the putting surface don't use the entire length of your putter...simply put down your flat marker and wait for another golfer to ask you to move it one way or the other 5. have your golf glove on prior to having to hit your tee shot...don't be the 4th player to tee off and make everyone watch you fumbling around with your glove 6. keep your eye on your golf ball after hitting it until it comes to rest...so many people turn away in frustration and then don't know where their ball has come to rest 7. before arriving at the golf course, read and memorize Ben Hogan's The 5 Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf 8. Read and memorize the USGA Rules of Golf before arriving to your golf destination 9. On the first tee, while standing over the ball remember to execute a 'one piece' takeaway with your left arm straight, firm grip pressure, eyes on the back of the ball, slight weight shift to the back foot, keep the club from going past parallel, leading the downswing with the lower body while staying connected with your hands and your core and transfer the weight to your forward foot all while keeping your head down for best impact results 10. don't have too many swing thoughts Okay, that's it sports fans. Have a wonderful weekend and stay tuned for more golf tips from Uncle Cutter. 😉

Does anyone else use mats on Par 3s to start the season. We just plan to use for a month or so till the turf starts growing.

If you don't want people chipping on your greens, don't build greens where this is the best play for some hole locations.

@TheGhostofhogan @spartangrass @golfsuper1992 Damage is a subjective word, do they lower maintenance budgets is how I would view it . The obvious- metal spikes cause more damage for golfers putting, however they save maintenance cost based on my experience. We can change hole locations less if warranted by said course #soft

Any superintendents following??? I have a technical question: Do current day soft spikes cause more or less damage to a green than old school spikes? @spartangrass @golfsuper1992

@oiler3535 @YoungerGolf @KorechiInnov @PGAShow I don’t see it being able to rake at night, there will be bunker rakes from the evening golfers in its way on every hole . Debris , from trees, storms etc . Navigation around irrigation heads etc . Autonomous pieces of equipment are best during daytime hours .

@YoungerGolf @KorechiInnov @PGAShow If it can be programmed to do every bunker in a night, that's game changing. Might save some courses money. Might free up groundscrew to spend more time on other maintenance too.

Canada’s @KorechiInnov has unveiled a paradigm shift in golf course maintenance here @PGAShow. On the heels of PIK’R the new autonomous RAEKR robot rakes bunkers overnight. Considering man hours needed for bunker work a significant cost savings for annual operation budgets.

@Top100Rick Agreed, though keeping maintenance in mind not ideal if heavy cart traffic or play. Turf doesn’t fill in so divots will take sanding and long to recover . Though, tough to cut a divot, curious they use mats on Par 3 ‘s?

Dormant Zoysia is a top 5 playing surface. You want to putt? Fine Bump it? All good. Rip a spinner? 💯 Sophisticated southern gentlemen understand. Green is the most overrated color of grass.

Garden City C.C. in Nassau county, NY. While the ground has been frozen, progress hasn’t. Here are a few updated images of our progress this winter. We’re all excited with the work on Travis’ 1916 design in the heart of golden age golf architecture in America! Coming in 2026!

@GCIMagazineGuy Our school course does 40k rounds/year. Last winter the difference in turf / conditions on front vs back was shocking and I attribute all to traffic of 9 holes vs 18.

Issues created by cart traffic represent some of the biggest and most perplexing conundrums facing golf course superintendents and operators. Research-backed solutions to mitigate wear are desperately needed.

Today is the beginning of the North Course Restoration! Greens expanding to Original 1954 design. Modernizing bunkers. New variety of Bentgrass on Fairways/Tees. Updating to a new irrigation system. Lots of hard work over the coming months but it’s going to be well worth it !

@emcaseyturf @rymo4949 I will add, most likely plays well in shoulder months and potentially winter time ( unless they are closed ) . Doesn’t need over seeded and recovers well most of the year from divots.

@rymo4949 Because it’s the best playing surface (in my opinion😊) and it does really well here most of the year surprisingly. We just have to stay on top of it when its really hot
