July 13th 1982: At RAF Stanley, a horrific accident occurs as a GR3 skids on the ice and a faulty micro-switch sends two sidewinders firing off, one of which veers into a group of Welsh Guardsmen clearing snow. Eleven are wounded, five lose limbs... 1/3 upi.com/Archives/1982/…

@RDPHistory I remember it well, a bloody mess. Luckily I had several tourniquets in the vehicle first aid kits. Like a scene from MASH, helicopters stacked up to pick up casualties.

@RDPHistory turned off runway, stopped, abandoned plane. port side wheels were smoking hot, one spark would've ignited the lot. as we were running from the herc armed soldiers stopped us and pushed us back to the herc, until they realised the problem.

@RDPHistory Drove a 1 ton rover and trailer off the Bezant onto a mexefloat, driver side tyres right on the edge. Was about to get out the passenger side when a 4 ton truck blocked me in. Had a quick nap until we arrived at the jetty.

Sennybridge, or should I say ‘Sennyfridge’. All the seasons in an hour. It was so bad that my socks are still wet thirty years later. You knew when you arrived at Senyfridge camp and you were issued with Artic ration packs, in the summer, that something wasn’t quite right. I'm sure a few toes have been left there in that sheep- shit capital of the world. Once you hit the cattle grid you were wet till ENDEX. There were suicidal sheep everywhere you went, even they didn’t want to be there. You woke up in the morning and they were there, they would even share your gonk bag if you let them. Not me though. Fond memories of sheep, it is said that shooting a sheep was a rite of passage. Sadly, so many sheep were killed on the live firing ranges. That’s probably why I never touched lamb stew or lamb roast ever again, fearing that they were so full of lead I would get lead poisoning. Sennybridge is another man’s Otterburn, Salisbury plain, Stamford, or Soltau, but which one was worse? It would seem that Sennybridge is the one place that most squaddies talk about. We all go on about how cold and wet it was at Sennybridge, but I know one thing, I’m sure a lot of us would give up our comfortable life to go back and do it all again...or maybe not...in fact definitely not...what the hell am I talking about?! Capacitor Conversion Chart & Calculator: uF to nF, pF to nF . . . Capacitor values may be expressed in µF, nF and pF and value conversions often need to be made between them, nF to µF, nF to pF and vice versa. How often do you get stuck or get the conversion wrong by a factor of ten or more? Capacitors are a very common form of electronic component and capacitor values are generally expressed in terms of microfarads, µF (sometimes uF when a micro character is not available), nanofarads, nF and picofarads, pF. Often there is an overlap between these multipliers. For example 0.1µF can also be expressed as 100nF, and there are many more examples of this type of notation confusion. It can sometimes be confusing when a circuit diagram or electronic components list may mention the value in terms of picofarads for example and the listings for an electronic component distributor of electronic components store may mention it in another. Check out my calculator: electronics-notes.com/articles/basic…
