People in Limerick again doing everything and anything except acknowledging their city's troubling history with its Jewish community. And don't mention the Holocaust, unless of course you mean the "Holocaust" commited by Jews — they'll chew your ear off talking about that one.

Israel versorgt den Gazastreifen über drei Pipelines mit 18 Milliarden Litern Wasser pro Jahr. Nicht, weil sie es müssen, sondern weil sie es wollen. Zudem begann Israel damit, täglich fast 60.000 Liter Diesel auf eigene Kosten nach Gaza zu transportieren, um die Generatoren in Betrieb zu halten. Bis Juli 2024 hatte Israel seit Kriegsbeginn 40.035 Tonnen Wasser direkt nach Gaza geliefert. Im selben Monat schloss Israel eine von UNICEF verwaltete Entsalzungsanlage in Khan Younis an sein eigenes Stromnetz an, die täglich 20.000 Kubikmeter Trinkwasser für fast zwei Millionen Menschen produziert. Im November 2024 wurde auch das Werk in Deir el-Balah wieder vollständig an die israelische Stromversorgung angeschlossen; es lief rund um die Uhr und produzierte 16.000 bis 20.000 Kubikmeter Wasser pro Tag für über 600.000 Palästinenser. Während des gesamten Krieges hat Israel die Stromzufuhr in das Westjordanland nie gedrosselt – über 1.300 Megawatt fließen täglich ohne Unterbrechung an dieselbe Bevölkerung, an der angeblich ein Völkermord begangen wird. So sähe ein Völkermord eigentlich aus: Man hört einfach auf. Ein Klick – und alles ist aus. Man verbindet die Entsalzungsanlagen seines Feindes nicht mit dem eigenen Stromnetz. Man liefert keinen Diesel auf eigene Kosten. Und man produziert kein Trinkwasser für zwei Millionen Menschen, die man angeblich vernichten will. Das Wort Völkermord hat eine rechtliche Definition: die Absicht, eine Gruppe ganz oder teilweise zu zerstören. Was Israel vorzuweisen hat, ist eine dokumentierte Bilanz darüber, dass Menschen während eines Krieges am Leben erhalten werden – eines Krieges, der von den Leuten begonnen wurde, die Israel vernichten wollen. Eighty souls. How many could have been saved? and even after the war when they had nowhere to go? Of course in the end, many reached the nascent State of Israel. Ireland talks of its sympathy with the Palestinians because of its own history of oppression. But when it came to the Jews, they were deaf to the screams, blind to the emaciated bodies. A shameful part of our history as Irishmen.

BREAKING: The UN has announced an urgent meeting of the General Assembly to condemn the targeted attack on Jewish civilians on Passover night by the regime in Iran. They will harshly condemn the multiple war crimes against Israeli civilians and will hold the regime in Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas accountable for their crimes against humanity. It’s great that the death penalty is a concerning issue for so many people. Can we talk about how the Palestinian Authority and a dozen other Muslim countries have the death penalty for being gay, atheist, apostate, or even just criticizing Islam?

@MichaelPTKelly I get it. We are still adjusting to this change. We all need to be aware of our surroundings in new ways, and there are bad cyclists, just there are bad drivers. But it would be interesting to see the stats on pedestrians killed by motorists verus pedestrians killed by cyclists.

Bike lanes have really made Dublin very dangerous for pedestrians - many cyclists are very responsible, many are maniacs.
