Just INSANE what’s happening here! In all these years following the #BoxOffice performance, I’ve never seen what #ChristopherNolan’s epic #TheOdyssey is achieving in IMAX screenings, let alone at the giant BFI IMAX. Having absolutely ALL screenings SOLD OUT for the next 2 weeks before a single soul has seen the actual film is the kind of trust & star power no other filmmaker has.
The BFI did its best to accommodate the demand opening 2 extra screenings per day beyond the traditional 4, in unpopular midnight & 8am slots, and even those went SOLD OUT.
And I can’t stress it enough: tickets at the BFI IMAX are not refundable and #TheOdyssey ones are now being sold for £26-£30 ($34.73-$40.10), and even so moviegoers are flocking into those like there was no tomorrow, to the point that even the final sessions on AUG 20 are just about to sell out, over a month in advance - again before anyone among general audiences having seen the film, and despite all the online vitriol.
