Home-made spectrometer using a cardboard tube, a piece of diffraction film, razor blades for a narrow slit, and hot glue to connect the parts together. Then I took a long exposure photo of the cooking gas flame. The obtained spectrum matches the wikipedia version!

@dtkung Same here, just after Project NExT 2017! I spiced it up with a script that sends email updates to each student on a weekly basis. I leveled-up my Excel/Google sheet skill several times that summer :)

Standards Based Grading / Grading for Growth. Years ago I put together an elaborate grading system using Google Sheets. It allowed me to keep one single grade sheet, but have each student see their progress on their own sheet. Benchmarks were color coded and it worked great.1/2

@sbagley At Clarkson U, for the parent who did not give birth it is one semester off with full pay (to be taken within the two semesters during/after child’s birth) and a year off of the tenure clock (optional). I am mostly certain that this is the same for the parent who gives birth too.
