Is that still a thing? Recall it happening to me 20+ years ago, was a new van in a Home Depot parking lot.. with ‘one extra high end sound system that was leftover from their day of deliveries.. they couldn’t go back to hq with it so wanted a quick sale! I looked and could tell it was shit and told them as much and walked away, prolly found some less informed buyer to fall for it cuz they put on a good show had I not known it was crap quality

Once in Paris I encountered an honesty test disguised as a scam. Standing there, minding my own business, a guy in front of me picks something from a puddle of water…a shiny golden ring. Asks me in French „is that yours?“ I say „non“ He goes „aha, not yours“ and walks away.

some of you won't want to read this, but what keeps Ethereum and Bitcoin relevant is that they have highly ideologically-motivated roots, with intelligent and capable adherents, who come off to many as "cult members" because they have such faith in a stringent philosophy around the core principles which power the chain they are not tourists. they are consistent, over years and decades if your chain doesn't have ideological adherents, then it's not important. it will never be important you're participating in a database which will eventually be replaced by a faster database public blockchains are meant to have core principles and ultimately derive relevance from the social consensus they create based on those principles. they're meant to stand forever

I keep talking about this because it is super important If you ever sold NFTs on ETH or L2s with Magic Eden you need to revoke approvals. Specifically, if you still hold an NFT from a collection you sold on there it may be vulnerable as ME shuts down support for some products.

Since this keeps coming up, fwiw, we've never banned anyone in the Discord for speaking out against Veefriends. The number of people who do it on the regular in the Discord is pretty obvious and entirely counter to these types of claims. There are some rules that can get you in trouble, though, if you break them. - Constant toxicity. This can be hit or miss, but most people can usually agree on toxicity when it presents itself. There are plenty of people in the discord who have been toxic and have not been banned. It takes time to build up to the point where you might be. I know @cligityclank has tried many times, but he's still there and to me is a delight, despite the views he shares on Veefriends. - Attacking other members. I get that people are never going to always get along. We don't expect them to. But there's a standard decorum in the rules against personal attacks. Honestly, most "communities" have them. Any that don't...well..I suspect they are pretty toxic in general. And honestly, the attacks rule covers many things. Attacking staff, even attacking Gary, can be up there. This isn't the same as disagreeing with how Gary runs things or a decision he makes; it's actual, blunt attacks (some of which I won't repeat here, but you can DM me) that are the issue. I think most of the pushback people talk about "you're not allowed to vent about Veefriends" is the actual community arguing back. They're entitled to argue with the people who have negative views about Veefriends just as much as the negative views are allowed. I'll never understand wanting to berate people for being passionate about being a fan of Veefriends, but that's just me. As a moderator for almost 5 years now, we've had rape threats, death threats, and I've had people show up at my house. A few internet trolls are minor compared to the macro of what we've dealt with over the years. I've always stood by every decision I've made as a moderator. I've been consistent with the rules, and will continue to be, as well as document everything we do. There are people in the discord I don't get along with; I just choose not to interact with them unless it's a question I can answer as a moderator. We can have thoughtful discussions and disagreements without resorting to extremes. It's the extremes that cause the problems. Anyway, enjoy the discourse of discord :)
