@LouDPhillips @teresag555 @Photini1967 @drdoomed01 @AnitaGarcia2525 @MozPerkins @adgirlMM @jameshealyjr @TaraWilcoxon @SirJeremyLondon @VictoriaBlue68 I wrote this, and I know it's long, but I hope my friends will read this:
After two hurricanes swept through my beachside location in October and November, the saltwater infusion devastated nearly all the grass and shrubs. It might take a while for everything to recover. A few weeks ago, however, I noticed a distinctive stalk growing near the road. My first instinct was to dig it up and move it to a more hospitable spot, away from the lawn maintenance crew's weed whackers. They must have noticed it too because they cleaned around it but left it standing. A few days ago, it bloomed into a beautiful sunflower, standing tall and looking stunning amidst the barren surroundings. Below are my pictures of it. It's a sign and a lesson for me and, I hope, for others. No matter how bad things might get, there is always hope. Hope for beauty, hope for courage, and hope for life. I share this in the hope that you might carry it with you into tomorrow and the new year.
