BellaVita’s story is nuts. It is one of the most successful perfume brands in India in recent history. It doesn’t make its own perfume, sub contracts it. Is run by a retail family’s family fund. Priced at roughly Rs 500 for a 100 ml bottle of eau de parfum, it is everywhere.

I will get a lot of hate for this but one simple thought. If a system were fundamentally unfair, it would not consistently attract and retain millions of people who choose to participate in it. That’s the part many skip. What @deepigoyal pointed out is economic reality not ideology. The gig economy exists because better-paying, easily accessible alternatives are not available. If they did, people would take them. Gig work offers: • Immediate income • Flexibility • Low barriers to entry It works until people upgrade skills and move on. Stories like Atharv Singh moving from a Blinkit picker to a designer at Zomato show that mobility is real. The problem today isn’t the system. It’s the 1% noise on social media trying to speak for the other 99% who are quietly working, earning, and progressing. Yes, working conditions must improve. Yes, safety and fairness matter. But misreading, and spreading false propaganda on how gig work functions is brutal etc. doesn’t help workers or the economy. It just creates headlines and havoc. Zomato/Blinkit and Swiggy didn’t just build platforms. They built opportunities at scale, employing hundreds of thousands, who otherwise might not working at all. And that infact deserves appreciation.
