@lolajean5 When you speak a language you just start producing everything in that language when speaking it. Putting on a different accent (which is necessary to properly pronounce them) for just some words in the middle of a sentence is hard

@lolajean5 They don't have to. They just do it, nobody asks them to or even wants them to. My boyfriend's own parents call him David (English pronunciation instead of Swedish) when speaking English, and I'm like who's that?! That's not what y'all named him, but it happens naturally

For the first time in modern records, U.S. women 40+ now have a higher birth rate than teens. Two decades of diverging trends crossed in 2022. The gap keeps widening. randalolson.com/2026/05/01/us-…

@drdanielschatz Första maj blev en högtid efter communist International chose it, partially due due to the date's proximity to acts of communist terrorism in the US. It has always been a radical leftist terrorist sympathizing holiday

En gång i tiden handlade första maj om arbetarnas rättigheter. Nu handlar det om något helt annat.

@Michaeldudufudu I guess it's not eating "out " when they basically lived at the fucking restaurant. Old country buffet and cracker barrel were packed with boomers, probably drove their expensive RV and passed out in it in the parking lot after stuffing themselves

Account @war24182236 walks around San Francisco filming what’s happening on the streets. This is the saddest video you will see today. San Francisco has ‘Reduction Harm centers’ where the city supplies clean needles for fentanyl users

Don't they perform an anesthesia for this procedure in a hospital? I mean, during a religious ceremony the babies don't even cry (and I know because I was a witness to a few). It's really not that painful - if they cry it's only for a few seconds. But I believe the hospitals do anesthesia which is probably not that safe for a newborn. Am I wrong?

I’ve never been convinced of the medical benefits of routine hospital circumcision. In fact I haven’t found a single one that merits a painful procedure on a newborn. If babies could talk I bet they’d have a lot to say about it! thecut.com/article/the-me…

@th_corte @CaitlinPacific Because they have shitty healthcare that they don't do much preventative healthcare. Have you ever used European healthcare? European dentistry? They don't do braces either should that be a moral panic in the US or should we be glad we have more proactive care?

@CaitlinPacific It‘s barbaric. Most countries in Europe haven’t routinely done it for decades and nothing bad resulted.

@Paraplane100 @Mike_OnTheRight @CaitlinPacific Their partners aren't missing anything. Dude sliding in and out of his own sleeve doesn't do anything special for women. Not that it matters for the circumcision vs not debate. It shouldn't be relevant

@walkinglife @CaitlinPacific Design so perfect that a non trival percent of adult men have to get a circumcision after months of other treatments still didn't cure their painful fusions. It's like 10% of adult men need circumcisions, so a much higher % have issues

@Phuxlea @CaitlinPacific We are also the only ones who routinely remove wisdom teeth, have near universal braces for youth etc. Preventative healthcare is not very common here in Europe vs the US. /My opinion as a dual US/Eu citizen living 10 years in Europe

You are not wrong here. I try to avoid posting about circumcision because I have friends + family who have had it done to their kids and I don't want to stigmatize them, but I have to ask this question; Why is the US the only developed secular country that practices routine infant circumcision? If it was truly a medical procedure, why do the healthiest countries, such as Japan, Taiwan, Switzerland, Germany etc, have much lower rates? The fact that USA practices circumcision at such high rates is why I will never believe in American exceptionalism.

@LaissezVoltaire @rayengroves That's nice to hear! I don't want to feel like an empty nester any earlier than I actually become one 😭 which is hopefully never. But more self care and a more ordered home would be welcome improvements! Nice handle name btw

@rayengroves Agree. Mine are 13, 15 and 16 and they need my presence as much as ever. And I thought I’d be swimming in free time at this stage. Nope, ha. But I am able to stay on top of housework and take care of myself better, which is really, really nice.

I have done very difficult things to be home with my kids while they’re young but I actually feel like being around more in 5-13 phase is more pivotal and important? Idk after having kids it all seems so vital

@CREID2852 @lymanstoneky For reference, she was a clingy baby but we had good routines and also she was pretty obedient even if she was demanding. I live abroad with no other family or friends and now with 3 kids and my sambo being disabled 3 years now, definitely need more help 🫠

@CREID2852 @lymanstoneky I felt like I had too much help during one segment of my motherhood. My daughter was maybe 1.5 and spending tons of days at her grandparents while I was pregnant. I didn't really need help and I missed her and dealing with my man's parents comments/scheduling etc was more work

A lot of people think "If only I had more help with my kids, parenting would feel easier." But using data from 24,000 parents, I find that... this isn't so. Parents who get more don't necessarily have better experiences of parenting!
The Institute for Family Studies@FamStudies

Parents who get more alloparental support report lower difficulty in parenting and fewer worries about parenting, notes @lymanstoneky But they also report much worse parent-child relationships. More here: ifstudies.org/blog/what-make…

@MissRed_Roses @AlecMacGillis 5 bdrm 2000 sqft is fantastic. We have 3 kids in a 1200 sqft 3 bedroom but one room has to be used as an office so it's getting tight here 🫠 2000 sqft would feel big to me!

@AlecMacGillis 2,000 sq ft is the perfect house size. I have 4 kids in a 5 bedroom 2 bath 2,000 square ft home. It's not too big to clean. Everyone has their own room. I don't understand how that isn't big enough

🧵Teens not having sex is actually a great trend! Teen sex is more like a rite of trauma. I’ve spent 30 years processing abuse & sexual trauma with college students because of high school dating. Sexually active breakups feel like divorce. Parents are very naive teen sex lives!
