Brycen Mautz will be starting for the #STLCards at some point. His story will be that much cooler to tell someday because of this. Unfortunate, for now. But it’ll happen eventually. #STLCarda

@echann7 When Mautz leveled up last year, he became a sure-fire bullpen option, and probably for years. Since his AAA debut, until his last start, His velo had dipped with the ML ball. He regained that velo, and that pitcher is probably a Steven Matz-esque arm for a good team

As we await Brycen Mautz’s ML debut, I just want to take a second to applaud him for turning himself into a big leaguer, and the new development group for helping him get there.
Two full seasons ago, he had languished with the old devy group. Now he’s a real major leaguer

@RPandaX2 He had a solid rookie season despite the terrible management of him. 2024 and 2025 were abysmal. I was quoted multiple times saying 2026 wouldn’t be his final chance because of the amount of potential he had. But I will admit things looked bleak.

@RPandaX2 I agree to a certain extent. You are right when pointing out that he was always very young and needed time. You’re missing the part where the Cardinals almost screwed up his development to the point that if they didn’t make the right hires, he could’ve been a lost cause.
