Best tips on maximizing sleep with a newborn?
I’m thinking of getting a mattress pad and just laying in her room since she loves her crib.
That way I have a shorter distance to respond.
Anyone have anything else that might help?

@deborahmullan @ravenousreader We are in a pretty big (5-600 people each mass) parish so I don’t think that will work. We have definitely made use of walking around together! But I appreciate the it gets better. I was guessing this might be a wait it out situation.

With mine, we were part of a very small parish, and letting them wander at that age kept things more peaceful than trying to keep them still. Our rule was no going past the altar rail. But my son, at home and he'd play priest. He was paying attention.

I remember peeking at people’s shoes under the pew when everyone was kneeling. I remember my Grammy trying to sooth me with back scratch’s during long boring homilies. I remember that toys weren’t allowed. I was expected to pay attention. I remember that feeling impossible and boring.
I remember being a small child at Mass.
That’s why I explained the Mass to them, gave them missals and such.
They need to be there learning.

I’m finding it hard to believe that any men actually do night care. How can they? At least one of us needs to be getting sleep.
From bedtime to morning I did all the feedings, changing, walking around with baby etc with my kids. Not even sure what my husband could have done to help.

Every time my sister’s baby woke at night, her husband got up, changed the diaper, and handed the baby to her to nurse. It worked for them. After my son was born, it became clear my husband was not built for middle-of-the-night duty. From 12–5:30 a.m., I was on my own. But every morning he took the baby, let me sleep, and had hot coffee waiting when I woke up. That worked for us. There’s no one-size-fits-all in parenting, despite what 𝕏 discourse would have you believe.

Spoke with the Priest at my local Church today and honestly I want to cry
It seems like I might have to wait two more years for the Sacraments.
OCIA doesn’t start until August. I’ve finally tracked down my (unfortunately still legal) wife whom I’ve been separated from for 10 years.
And my Priest told me it could be up to a year for an annulment with not even that guaranteed.
And if it IS granted I have to marry the mother of my children (which I already intend to do) as quickly as possible meaning a beautiful wedding takes backseat over court house “one and done”
The mistakes of my past just won’t leave me alone. Talk about spiritual warfare. If I wasn’t so certain in the One True Church I’d probably just give up 😭

He could have said “Gone With the Wind” to “Gone With the Breeze!” But that wasn’t in his agenda.

I HATE THEM. I can’t drive around here after dark mostly because of them. It’s very curvy and hilly. The roads are narrow and when these headlights come at me they blind me. I literally cannot see anything; just blinding lights that obscure the car and the road. It’s terrifying.
