Ontario budget announces Waldo will be able to enjoy a new Provincial Park. Somewhere, at some point. Otherwise, $20.6 billion in 2023-24 for more stone and asphalt to keep us busy in the Anthropocene, etc.

@BadlandsAB Source of stats in the image: Isman…2018 used 2015 energy factors. Yes, Alberta shifting coal-to-gas to generate electricity. ~30% less co2e/KwH in 2020 vs 2015 so Calgary EF in 2020 possibly tied for top. By 2024 Halifax likely to have largest ecological footprint.

Another perspective on #albertaiscalling ads. Most of the differential is from the larger carbon component of Ecological Footprint, emitted from generating electricity by burning fossil fuels, especially coal.

To #MoveTheDate of #EarthOvershootDay we at @EFI_YorkU are reducing the footprint of calculating the Ecological Footprint. Using same hardware and software we improved the #MySQL code to processes 34M rows of @FAO data using just 16% of prior time = computational energy.
