YouTube is now acting illegally in Europe, and I can prove it. You better read this, @TeamYouTube @YouTube @nealmohan.
According to the Digital Services Act in Europe (Articles 14, 15, 17, and 20), YouTube must provide clear, written explanations when taking action against a channel.
So here’s what happened.
On January 7th, one of my channels was demonetized for “Inauthentic Content.” As usual, the justification was extremely vague, without pinpointing any specific issues across more than 150 videos. Shortly after, other channels were also demonetized for “Related Channel.”
Still, I respected the decision. I thought, “Maybe I did something wrong.” So, over the course of 90 days, I deleted all the videos on that channel before reapplying.
Two weeks ago, I uploaded three new videos and finished removing the old ones, making sure everything complied with the Inauthentic Content policies on the YouTube Partner Program page.
I reapplied with just the 3 new videos on the channel.
After two days, the application was still under review. Then something strange happened.
It was neither approved nor rejected. Instead, the “Earn” tab reverted to showing that I didn’t meet the 3,000 or 4,000 watch-hour requirement—only my subscribers and 162 public watch hours from the past 12 months.
At first, this made sense because I had deleted the previous videos. So I assumed I needed to keep posting compliant content before reapplying. It stayed like that for a week.
Today, when I opened YouTube Studio, I saw a message saying my channel was not approved for monetization.
But instead of citing “Inauthentic Content,” it now says “Violations of YouTube monetization policies” and links to a general policy page without specifying which policies were violated.
So how can a channel reapply if it doesn’t have the required watch hours? How can it be rejected if it couldn’t even reapply in the first place? And all of this seems tied to a broken AI system.
I tried contacting YouTube chat support, but the representative kept repeating the same responses. They even suggested I was wrong about being able to reapply without the required hours, claimed there was no manager or supervisor available, and ended the chat without providing any real explanation.
As it stands, YouTube is not complying with the European DSA. They are taking actions without proper explanation, affecting not just this channel but others as well. At this point, in case you haven't noticed, you can’t even reapply on other channels after the 90-day period until the original channel issue is resolved.
This raises serious concerns about transparency—especially since YouTube claims to refund advertisers, yet provides no proof. I’ve been an advertiser myself and have never received any refunds.
Coincidentally, this has also been a period where YouTube has demonetized more creators than ever while launching a record number of new features.
I will be taking legal action if @TeamYouTube does not get in touch and have a real person review and resolve my case.
