@_AashishReddy @DigitalDionysu1 Axler is great, he has a nice way about textbooks. My only complaints about the measure theory book he has are that: (1) it is very heavy on the complex analysis stuff, (2) some of the explanations are different than the norm but still followable and mostly for a reason

@DigitalDionysu1 We used Cohn but I didn’t like it that much tbh, @econnominalist also had complaints about Axler but maybe check those out and see if they’re more agreeable to you

@JamesBland_Econ @mcmc_stan Haha neither am I, I've tried some things like Gaussian mixture models but those projects never really went anywhere. It might be fun to try and play around some more with data to see if risk preference can be inferred from trading or prediction market data You got me inspired...

Is anyone interested in knowing their risk preferences? I am thinking about making a Google form to fill out. You'd have about 80 binary decisions. I would then use @mcmc_stan to estimate your utility function and give you a short report about what it means. #TeachBE

@number_pizza111 @SRamirez68083 I read a paper that estimated how far right voters turned depending on their exposure to trade defects (more imported goods -> more radical voting) maybe you could find something there?

@SRamirez68083 I expected FDR doubling the price of silver a few months before the 1934 midterms would help Democrats win counties that produced a lot of silver per capita, but no. I still have a few more things to throw at this hypothesis but it looks like I’m wrong.
