@theashrb Nothing will change. Drivers will still drive half a mile for the school run, arrive early to grab a space and sit there with the engine running

@JeremyVineOn5 I can't use a screen at work without an annual assessment but can pass my driving test at 17 and never have to update my learning. 100% yes to retesting, think how much nicer the roads would be if you removed the bad drivers.

Should you retake your driving test every 5 years? New figures show that London and the South-East record the highest number of crashes in the country. Should motorists be required to retake their test to prove they’re still safe behind the wheel?

@gmiller Owner of several turbo 4s over the years, my current one reached 310k last week. Service regularly and let the engine idle for 30 seconds before moving or switching off and it'll be fine

Question for car guys: Over the last few years, many car manufacturers are switching from naturally aspirated V-6 engines to turbocharged 4-cylinder engines, given federal pressures to increase MPG and decrease emissions. Many of the classic V-6s last over 200,000 miles. Many of the turbo-4s will not, given their much higher operating temperatures, pressures, and complexity. Replacing an entire car more often involves a huge 'embodied energy' cost. Question: Does this switch to smaller, 'more fuel efficient' engines actually help the environment in the long run, if we take into account the fact that the smaller engines will wear out much faster? Is this an example of 'pro-environment' federal regulations being counter-productive in the long run?

High mileage is the most abused phrase in the used car market. Mileage only tells you how often a car moved not how it was treated. A serviced 150k mile car will outlive a neglected 40k mile car every time.

I’m a proud Anglophile Growing up in Sweden people leaned towards UK or US culture. I was obsessed with the US (still am) but after moving to the UK I finally got it The history, culture, people, humour, nature, architecture, even the food. You won’t believe me but the UK has some of the best food in the world!! There’s nowhere else quite like it and I’m so glad I was able to call it home for a while

Met a gorgeous woman at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. We hit it off immediately and were really flirty straight away. Now while our spouses think we're at meetings we're in a Premier Inn drinking shit wine and having sex.

Can someone please explain to me how someone gets 8 hours of sleep, 10,000 steps a day, goes to work, maintains good hygiene, cleans their house, exercises, takes care of their animals, and has time for hobbies and socializing?

@JSMilbank And Henry is infinitely repairable with spares readily available from the manufacturer or third parties. I have examples at work dating to the 1990s (albeit in Triggers Broom format)

Crazy to me how Dysons cost £800, constantly need maintenance and often don't work very well, all whilst being built overseas by cheap labour. Meanwhile Henrys cost £110, never go wrong, are incredibly effective, yet are all built in Somerset. Makes you think!

@Hanx896 @marksuttonbike Higher fuel duty would incentivise shorter supply chains. Fewer lorries on the road and a boost for local suppliers would be two of the benefits

@marksuttonbike Most of the things people buy and consume are transported by lorries. So you want the price of everything else to go up to cover those new fuel duty costs?

@G_plus_C @NationCymru Why is is large ? No one is going to build new car parks just for obese vehicles so I suggest you downsize. Àn estate car probably has a bigger boot and will be more economical to run.

Top 10 U.K’s Everyday Worst People: 1/ People who play music out of their phone on public transport. 2/ People who let their children play noisy tablet games on public transport. 3/ People who scorch the grass in the park with their disposable BBQs. 4/ People who wild camp at beauty spots and leave behind their litter and broken kit. 5/ People who speed up late for school in their giant cars. Every day. 6/ People who pavement park. 7/ People who wear pyjamas to the shops. 8/ People who blow their sickly sweet vape smoke in your face. 9/ People who leave their dog crap bags hanging off tree branches. 10/ People who move in next door and immediately rip out the front garden and concrete over it.

Filled the car up last night. Went to bed and just left it. £1.40 it cost, for 22kwh which about 92 miles. How does that compare with old fashioned diesel cars?
