The safety of dark fleet vessels is going to become a key topic this year. 💣 💥

Our warriors continue to apply sanctions against Russia’s shadow oil fleet – two such vessels were struck in the waters at the entrance to the port of Novorossiysk. These tankers had been actively used to transport oil – not anymore. I am grateful to Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov for leading the operation, to the counterintelligence officers of the Security Service of Ukraine, and to our Navy for consistently delivering effective results. Ukraine’s long-range capabilities will continue to be developed comprehensively – at sea, in the air, and on land. Glory to Ukraine!

@4thTroglodyte It could, but grain carrying vessels have (as a rule) not been targeted systematically, perhaps because each side has so many of them. Ferts unavailability for next year’s harvest worries me a lot more. That window is closing.

A supertanker hauling Iraqi crude may have crossed the Strait of Hormuz in recent days, automated tracking data suggest. Separately, a cargo of cooking fuel destined for India left the Persian Gulf. The very large crude carrier Kin A, also known as the Helga, appeared on tracking screens on Saturday off Duqm on the Omani coast, having previously been seen more than three days earlier heading toward the strait after loading at Iraq’s Basra terminal. MEG imports have already structurally been dropping to (say) the PADDs (3, 5), but even the little which was still being imported is now being replaced. VZ + Canadian both helping. Post war we probably don’t mean revert.

As a guy from downstream... We are not thinking about how in the future many sites might be open to different crudes at distressed prices in the future. Many refineries stay in their crude purchasing lane to have known outcomes for evaluations and sales. But having to run different crudes that are avaliable now might lead them to change their crude slate in the future as they have a suprise slate now that gives them more juice for the squeeze that they would not have tried cause they never had to. Or they won't care and they will go back to their regular slate and crude buying behavior after this is done 🤔 @ed_fin is this on your radar or just mine?
