@jeffblankenburg This one gets to a mantra I've internalized: "Motion is not productivity" (or progress, if you prefer). Just because you're doing a lot doesn't mean you're actually getting something useful done.

okay this one isn't slowing down so I'm packaging it up as a repo to share. was about to hit publish and decided to give it a little extra polish first... reply here for a reminder when it's live!

New workflow thanks to @steipete's awesome Twitter CLI, bird 1 - bookmark a tweet 2 - bird grabs new bookmarks every 60 seconds 3 - agent reads the tweet and depending on contents adds to a queue of things to review, try, or simply add to my knowledge base. Auto saves links, podcasts, YouTube vids, etc. Including transcripts and quotes that would be useful or interesting to me. Auto suggests ways to integrate ideas and open source projects into the JFDI system. Pretty excited to see this one compound.

@alexhillman @sawyerhood Oh, gotcha - wasn't clear at first if you were running locally on a different machine (which I may just do) or if you were actively running it in a cloud VM somewhere that's only accessible via Tailscale. You're doing interesting stuff with JFDI, it's giving me ideas. :)

@edmistond @sawyerhood No service, just SSH. Tailscale does all the heavy lifting, basically making it so the VM feels like a computer on my network (cuz it is)

the Claude Code browser extension is good, but requires CC is on the same computer as your browser. I run mine on a remote VM in a private Tailsnet. so that doesn't work. thankfully, @sawyerhood's browser-dev skill is ❤️‍🔥 and with a little love I got it working perfectly! 😍 gonna try bundling it up as a PR to share back.

@DevLeaderCa I’ve had good results in the past with DbUp, and you can build it into a deployment pipeline to make life easy for everyone.

How do you approach database migrations in .NET projects? Any tools or frameworks you prefer?

@danieltharris I've wanted to experiment with my own twist on live captioning on Mac/Linux since april-asr has C# bindings, but I haven't found many xplat NET libraries that will monitor system audio. I think PortAudio can do it, but I'm not sure how good the C# bindings are.

@edmistond @dustinmoris No don’t think they do use it that much. Azure app and Microsoft 365 admin app are MAUI I believe. What sort of audio apps are you looking to build? There’s libraries for recording and playing audio but I’m guessing your use case is more advanced?

@danieltharris @dustinmoris I've heard it's improved a lot (although I would like to use it for cross-platform audio and there don't seem to be good libraries for that), for sure! My point was mostly that as far as I can see, Microsoft doesn't use it for any of their own applications.

I’ve had my gripes with MAUI but it’s become pretty decent with the last 2 releases for those most comfortable with C#. It’s an option, and at the end of the day choosing something like Flutter vs MAUI mainly comes down to what the team knows and is comfortable with. Very unlikely the ultimate success of a mobile app will come down to what it was built with

I found myself channeling Mr. Torgue of the Borderlands series of games last night as I put the finishing touches on chapter 1 of my next book. My central message was "SIDE PROJECTS ARE AMAZING AND AWESOME AND .NET HELPS YOU DO THEM". I daydreamed on the idea and generated these.

@BriannaWu Haven’t used WS pans. We have a bunch of All-Clad stainless pans and love them, 10+ years now and as good as new. We have a few nonstick pans too - I only pay enough for those to get ones that work on induction since they don’t really last, but Misen is good there.

Does anyone have any opinions on Williams Sonoma cookware? My only large pot is all the way from Frank’s bachelor days, and is on its last legs. And I hear good things about WS, but it seems so overpriced. But I’d rather have one really good piece that lasts forever, especially when I use it every day.

@PapaLima76 @Pilestedt Yep, this is me. I would love some visual cues for game audio like this. Bonus points if you could caption the in-game voice chat (I think D4 can) but I know that's a harder lift, and hard to do accurately. I run Windows Live Captions for that, but mixed results with that.

@Pilestedt a deaf friend is trying his best to play the game but he feels he is at significant disadvantage when playing. This is me transcribing what he asked me on discord. Any ideas about any kind of accessibility assistance, something like in fortnite would be a massive boon

@CC_StormWatch Yeah, not minimizing it by any means, I know a lot of folks in that area and I hope they’re okay! I think we’ve discussed this on twitter in the past, but the low level nexrad coverage in that area really isn’t great - it’s on the coverage fringes for CLE, IWX, and DTX 😞

A bit sad about @VisualStudioMac going out of support this year. Love using my MacBook Pro - but using VS Code is still something I don't prefer compared to it. I'll give it time, but I'm just saying it's enough to push me back to my windows laptop to run Visual Studio again.
