@ShitpostReels That weird thing where all the Apple shills haven't used a Windows laptop in 15+ years and think they're all slow, heavy, run hot, and have 2h of battery life.

@ForrestTheWoods You can use a mouse on tmux: set mouse on Normal people don’t use TUIs. That’s why TUIs don’t work for normal people.

Unpopular Opinion: tmux controls are absolute dog 💩 🗑️. TUI controls don’t have to be garbage. You can just make normal controls that work for normal people. And let users use a mouse cursor. It’s totally fine and good actually. vim people I swear. The worst.

Why is it everyone with an absurdly futuristic AI take is someone who - as best I can tell - doesn’t work on (and often never has) real software that has real users and real requirements? More so, why do you trust them?

Building the biggest femboy-only community in my basement. 1) You get your (sub-30”) waist measured and (sub-25) age verified 2) You get in 3) You get to know femboys you should've known years ago if this sounds like you, comment👇

@ID_AA_Carmack Caveat to my earlier statement - I guess that’s probably still how it works on android if you have Spotify not lossless. Apple basically solved this with vertical integration Apple Music plus iPhone plus AirPods don’t have this problem

When you stream Spotify to Bluetooth speakers or headphones, the audio comes over the network lossily compressed with Vorbis or AAC codecs, is then decoded on your device to 48 Khz raw samples, then the Bluetooth stack lossily re-compresses it with SBC or AAC codecs before sending it over the airwaves to the speakers. I don’t have “golden ears” to pick apart audio quality like I can with, say, missing gamma correction on texture filtering, but that still hurts my system optimization soul. It is likely over-optimization, but It would be cleaner if there were a way to send bluetooth-ready, compressed audio directly.

@ID_AA_Carmack Kind of not true anymore Apple Music with AirPods will stream the aac bitstream to the AirPods to decode. If you use Spotify lossless it’ll go lossless to SBC for everything else (SBC sucks tho) if you have fancy headphones like the HDB630 it’ll go lossless to APTX

My first guitar teacher ever said "If you can't play fast clean it'll sound worse with distortion" - apparently he'd never heard of adaptive noise gate :P

The HDB 630s: - Best wireless headphones I've ever heard - Using the dongle in "HD Audio mode" does make them sound notably better - They sound like a lowish cost wired headphone (Audio Technica M30 maybe) - Not "worth" it, yet you can't get anything like it

Agentic workflows mostly bottlenecked by verification speed. They work great on frontend where you have hot reload but work terribly for PCB design for example where one feedback cycle is days to get the boards and hours to solder the parts and maybe $100s of wasted parts

@GregorySchier Oh yeah definitely. From m1 to m2 is like twice as fast and m2 to m4 is twice as fast again. I think m4 to m5 is 60% faster IIRC.

Should I upgrade my M1 Pro MacBook Pro (32GB) to M5 Pro (64 GB)? I write Rust and Go so the CPU/RAM upgrade *should* be meaningful, but looking to hear from people who actually made the switch.
