Testing an experimental way to build in public.
I’m going to transparently share a brain dump of my thoughts about a @dust_labs experimental project called POW.
For anyone who actually reads this, I’ll happily answer any questions in the replies.
**Open to criticism, suggestions & for anyone to dunk on me for being dumb.**
Ok, let’s begin.
We made this product called POW (Proof of Work) back in October.
The idea for POW was to create a simple, aesthetic tool to document & view the daily contributions made to the projects.
Proof of Work.
We got loved the idea of “GitHub squares but for all Web3 work.”
We decided to build an MVP to launch for DeGods 1-year anniversary day. We launched it and continued to update it for about 1 month. Then priorities changed & we haven’t been updating it much since. We’re still a lean team and not enough bandwidth.
So the question is “the website is mid. How is this product going to make money?”
Here’s my pitch:
Problem:
It’s hard for NFT holders & DAO participants to track the history of the work that’s been done on their projects. It’s even harder to pay the best contributors.
Solution:
Build a simple, tool that visualizes the work being done by the team & community on a project. Then, make it easy for the team to pay the best contributors.
Business Model:
Charge NFT projects, DAOs, and startups a monthly recurring fee for using the tool. 0.33% of payment fees would be auto swapped into DUST & collected as well.
The Moat:
Users build their reputation on our platform, which would build network effects & make it hard to vampire attack us.
Go To Market Strategy (in detail):
1. Launch with DeGods & y00ts first.
2. Include a lead-gen form for NFT projects/DAOs & ask how much they’d be willing to pay
3. Add in feature for holders of NFTs to create their own “POW” profile where they can log their contributions to the project.
4. Create admin view for project creators that enables them to pay top contributors retroactively.
5. This incentives people to log all their contributions to projects + makes it easier for founders to reward the top community members.
6. Use success from DeGods/y00ts to create case study.
7. Use case study to convert first batch of leads into our first customers.
8. Spend 3-5 months collecting customer feedback & continuously improving the product optimizing around the following KPIs: consistent WoW growth, increasing MRR, and minimizing % churn.
9. Once we’re confident in the product, we should attempt to expand to the Web2 B2B SaaS market.
10.Create alternative landing page to highlight POW as a tool to better manage remote-work startups.
11. Add Fiat payment method & email OAuth.
12. Rally the troops to launch on ProductHunt & get #1
13.Repeat Step 8 for a long time
14.I have an idea for how to acquire a lot of DAOs as customers in a viral way, but that’s too much alpha.

Maybe someone that read all of this has some good ideas/suggestions.
I’m excited for what we are going to do with it.
But for now, let’s focus on this 🌉.
