@nemoloris Yes, I think this is probably three dactyls and a catalectic fourth dactyl, as you say; but it's also possible it is a trochee ('Saying') follow by an iamb ('that now') and two anapaests... Although I'm not altogether happy with that either.

If we were scanning Hardy’s ‘The Voice’ and agreed the first line is four dactyls, is the second two dactyls, a trochee and an iamb? Or three dactyls proper and then a catalectic fourth dactyl (just the strong syllable but nothing after it)?
