@safe_breathe @airspothealth I first realized how important indoor air quality was when people I was following on social media started citing indoor air quality scientists.

@RickABright I've really appreciated your posts re H5N1. Is there any chance you're also on that new blue site? I'd love to be able to follow you there. Thanks for the awareness you have been raising re the seriousness of H5N1 and the need to act.

🚨This mutation in NA of human #H5N1 is well known to assoc w/ drug resistance to oseltamivir. It should be a clear trigger to immediately diversify SNS holdings. Fewer than 1M doses of baloxavir held, w/ 12+ mo lead to make more. Did mutation appear pre or post oseltamivir treatment? Is this NA mutation also in #H5N1 from pigs & from human case in Canada? Glad baloxavir & IV antivirals were available for Canada, timing is a factor on their effectiveness. Urgently need to ⬆️ surveillance, ⬆️ SNS drug diversity, ⬆️ data for combo therapy, & ⬇️ data sharing lag

#H5N1 #AvianInfluenza Updates Quick analysis of the newly uploaded H5N1 sequences from human cases in #Washington These sequences contain NA S247N -- implicated in #antiviral drug resistance/reduced drug sensitivity 1/n

WHOA. Indoor air quality is influenced by ventilation, and ASHRAE is the standard-setting body that, starting in the 1970s, developed bare minimum (ie, not health-focused) ventilation rates. Turns out, ASHRAE was influenced by...Big Tobacco. 🧵

At the risk of annoying you fine folks, I *highly* recommend getting on the list of one of @nicktsergas's starter packs. Being on the list has absolutely transformed my Bluesky experience. I've heard many others say the same. (I'll stop haranguing you now.)

@brailemom @jasmith_yorku Or put bed legs in containers lined with 2x-sided tape or with very slippery sides. Also, spreading (food-grade) diatomaceous earth along baseboards, outlets, bed crevices, etc. is a good idea.

Anyone ever been told that to deal with bedbugs room occupants need to cover up food containers?

@jvipondmd Should I take this as a sign that more steps may be taken soon in Canada to improve indoor air quality (vis-à-vis mitigating airborne pathogen transmission)?

@KkanCanada @jasmith_yorku I've measured >2,000 ppm CO2 in my not-terribly-old, local arena. I've also measured >2,000 in the relatively new indoor soccer facility. When I discuss this with facility mgmt & league mgmt, they say the facilities meet the building code. Period. They know, and they don't care.

How many players in amateur sports are out now because of illness? Might be Covid, might not be, but they’re out anyway. We should be making sure that locker rooms, gyms and sports facilities have clean air?
Jammer@acrossthemersey

Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball out of tonight’s game game with a “nasty bout of COVID” which caused him to lose weight and strength. Athletes won’t be spared by pretending. hoopshype.com/2024/10/08/lon…
