The benefits of acquiring Greenland would be very substantial. There's no question that it would be a smart move both strategically and economically. The people laughing it off just don't know what the hell they're talking about. We've grown so accustomed to the USA languishing in a state of stagnation, treading water aimlessly, that we're shocked by a president who actually wants to expand, claim new territory, and aggressively pursue greater power and more resources for the sake of his people. But this is what leaders are supposed to do. And what most American presidents did in fact do, until recently. Expansion is the American way. It has been since literally the first moments of its existence. If Americans in the 1800s were as timid and weak as some of the naysayers today, we never would have even reached the Pacific.

Idk, Semper. You’re PROBABLY right, but people have a change of feelings all the time. For instance, I was a Democrat who was becoming increasingly uncomfortable with many counter-productive, and ridiculous decisions and actions by Democrat politicians, when Ronald Reagan began his campaign for President.
Everything he said, made so much more sense than what the Democrats were saying. I’ll never forget that there had just been a court decision to award a criminal who got injured while breaking into a business through the ROOF, with the intention of looting it! The business was PUNISHED for not making their establishment more welcoming to criminals who want to harm it??? That is so far beyond reasonable that the Dems lost me then, really; Reagan just cinched it.
There are many others of my previous beliefs that have changed, but due to limited space here, I will only say that over the years, I have learned that I can love people of different cultures and beliefs. (Though I haven’t been able to love those who are evil!) I do not have to embrace those beliefs for myself, but I now have people in my life who I love that I wouldn’t have been able to before.

I often talk about the lesson of Prohibition. Prohibition, of course, did reduce alcohol usage some. But it didn't work, because widespread resistance to it led to extensive flouting of the law and the empowerment of organized crime.

If you say "we could stop all of this with gun control", you need to say (1) exactly what gun control you are saying will work and (2) how said gun control would actually prevent the possession of dangerous weapons by dangerous people given so many extant guns in the US.
