So, said the physicist, can you explain what you are, and how? The spirit bobbed around the room, and smiled mischievously. You first. @Microsff (wait/what)

@efagirard @RodDMartin The moral tariff was in 1861 set at 47% across the board, higher on certain crops. If the boston tea party was over 3 pence per pound, wtf do you think a 47% tax rate would do. Lincoln wanted war because that was the second attempt at installing the fed…

Everyone loves asking: “If Grant was such a great general, how come he lost nearly every battle to Lee and suffered way more casualties?” Robert E. Lee himself had a very different answer. “I have carefully searched the military records of both ancient and modern history, and have never found Grant’s superior as a general. I doubt his superior can be found in all history.” — Robert E. Lee The entire question is built on two flat-out falsehoods. First: Grant didn’t “lose nearly every battle.” There was essentially ONE continuous campaign — from the Wilderness in May 1864 straight through to Appomattox in April 1865. Grant seized the initiative in the very first clash and never gave it back. Lee spent the rest of the war reacting to Grant’s moves. When Lee attacked in the Wilderness hoping the old forests and bogs would save him (like they always had), Grant didn’t retreat north like every previous Union commander. He simply disengaged, slid south, and flanked Lee again. Lee never dictated the terms of battle after that day. James Longstreet had tried to warn the Army of Northern Virginia: “We’ve never faced anyone like this man.” They didn’t listen. They learned fast. Second: The casualty comparison ignores that Lee was almost always the defender. Context matters. But the deeper truth is bigger than any single clash. Lee still fought war the old way — disconnected battles, win-loss record like a sports season. Grant fought the next war: coordinated campaigns across multiple theaters, using railroads, telegraph, navy, and engineers to keep relentless pressure until the enemy simply could not continue. Grant didn’t win by accident. He made contact and maintained it until victory was inevitable. Lee fought the last war. Grant wrote the blueprint for the next one. That’s why he was great. That's why he won. Change your mind yet? Drop your hottest take on Grant vs. Lee below. 🔥

@efagirard @RodDMartin You’re such a tool if you believe the north didn’t do the exact same thing. In fact the north kept their slaves for up to 2 years after the war ended. It wasn’t even about slavery..Lincoln was going to deport the slaves to panama. It was about a 72% tax rate L forced on the south

@RodDMartin Built on federal overreach, dark money loans from outside the US trying to implement the second fed, unlimited resources, medical, food, and shelter. A campaign of burning down the homes of women and children, slaughtering their livestock so they would starve and freeze.

@AccentsSouthern "King Richard, your highness, carry this into The Crusade and drive back the Mohammedans once and for all. And beware thy brother and the scheming lords. Return and burn The Magna Carta. Send ships far to the West, to a new land. Build these rifles and arm the people."

@cdrsalamander Is everybody sure Armenia wants the bridge built? Even Bahrain was a wee bit ambivalent about the causeway from KSA, weren't they?

This is great, but if Turkey is going to insist that everyone spell Turkey “Türkiye”, then the Turks have to spell Armenia, “Հայաստան”, or if that is too hard for them because they can’t find those letters on the keyboard, then make it “Hayastan”. Sorry, but those are the rules Turkey wants people to follow for them, so they should do it for others.

Türkiye and Armenia will rebuild the historic Ani Bridge, physically linking the two countries again.

It's recognizing that most of the people who want felons to vote don't want anyone to have guns. All things being equal, I don't want people who do felony level crimes to participate in government or be armed.

A fucking package deal? Both right to vote and right to arms should be returned, period. I want them to have both back, but you're here saying "I don't want you to have your right to arms back...unless we give you your right to vote back too, then it's fine." Huh? What kind of stipulation is that?

I went to a lovely village fete today, and there was a fish ‘n’ chip van, so I had a large cod and chips. My missus ‘didn’t want any’, but then, of course, proceeded to eat around 40 per cent of my chips. Also, two random women simply walked up and helped themselves to some, as if that was perfectly acceptable. How much longer must men put up with this? How do we know how much food to buy? If you run a chips-adjacent food outlet, how do you know how much to serve to a bloke when there are obvious women present? Of course, I’m happy to share with the frail, fainting flower of womanhood, because what’s mine is hers first. We are men, and our duty is to provide and, ultimately, defend, even unto death. But this is about chips, and boundaries are important. Sisters: it’s OK to like chips. It’s OK to want some. We know you do.

Apparently this is one of the proves that NTE use AI for posters. But does it? Or maybe its an ester egg like in many other parts of game done for Anime fans to spot? There is Itachi Death scene in NTE! There is this place from Bocchi The Rock!, there is Time Machine crash from Steins;Gate, there is Flame Sowrd in ground like Dark Souls or long pass from Exit 8, there are posters referring Ave Mujica. This game is filled with Ester Eggs, but for some reason people point at those posters and say "Its Ai"

Is it possible to arrive in Europe as a tourist and acquire something in Europe that can reliably be used for self defense purposes, without getting arrested?

A knifeman stabbed a woman to death in front of terrified bystanders in Barcelona in what authorities believe was a random street killing. A woman has been killed in a shocking knife attack in the streets of Barcelona in full view of horrified bystanders. The stabbing happened at around 11am in Esplugues de Llobregat, just a short distance from the Camp Nou stadium. Witnesses watched as the attacker struck in broad daylight. The victim, described locally as a young woman, suffered multiple stab wounds to the throat, chest and stomach. She died at the scene. A 50-year-old man who tried to intervene was also injured, sustaining wounds to his arm. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Police say they are still working to determine whether the attacker knew the victim. So far, there is no evidence of any relationship between them. Investigators are focusing on the possibility that this was a random attack. The suspect — described as wearing jeans, a hoodie and carrying a large black rucksack was arrested just hours later in the nearby Les Corts area. Images of the alleged attacker holding the weapon have since circulated, adding to the shock surrounding the incident. As the investigation continues, one thing is already clear: A normal morning turned into a scene of terror and a life has been taken in the most brutal way.

The sooner we recognize this hard truth—that there’s no military solution to the conflict with Iran—the better off the United States will be. Sheer military force cannot reopen the Strait of Hormuz without escalating the war and sucking us into another endless, bloody quagmire that delivers zero benefit to our people. We can’t get rid of the emboldened government in Tehran, regardless of how many leaders we kill. If we try we will end up with a government or failed state, worse than what we have now. The inevitable reality is this: we will have to cut a deal with Iran. We can be pragmatic and do it now on our own terms, or we can keep listening to the same neocons and the Israeli government who got us into this mess, only to cut the same deal after we’ve lost even more. Recognizing that we have hit the point of diminishing returns and pulling out now is not weakness. It is strength—and it’s the right thing to do for the American people.
