@efbandy

It is a curse having an epic temperament in an overcrowded age devoted to snappy bits! - Tolkien.

are there people like this guy from Margin Call in real life? Very interested to know. "Jared Cohen" - only 43 years old but CFO. How does one get to this spot at such a young age?

@SenRandPaul @marthamaccallum Such an unforced error for @randpaul to be having this conversation. Wars, FISA, 39 Trillion in debt and corruption ad nauseum. FOCUS!

Some clarification on my "ballroom" bill: 1. It stands for ALL White House residence projects. 2. It stands for ALL Presidents, including President Trump, but all presidents who succeed him. 3. It has NO taxpayer expenditure. Thank you for having me, @marthamaccallum.

One of the funniest moments in The Return of the King - Extended Edition is the drinking game between Legolas and Gimli. 😂 Included in the “Return to Edoras” segment, this scene was added to the film to show that the rivalry between Elves and Dwarves is not limited to the battlefield, and to emphasize the importance of the friendship that develops between them.

Martha Vickers was scorching in "The Big Sleep" which, sadly, was the highlight of her film career. Seductive just to the point of parody- and perfectly fitting the line "She tried to sit in my lap while I was standing up." Do you remember this film?

Couldn’t agree more. We have been demanding a new ballroom for decades now. For the love of America people. Can we please have a ballroom. I’m not sure how we are functioning right now without our ballroom. I need more ballroom!
Acyn@Acyn

Lindsey Graham says they are going introduce legislation that’s going to authorize 400 million dollars to be spent on building the ballroom: We pay for it by offsetting it with customs fees. The sooner we get the ballroom built, the better it is for the country.

Recently took my 15mo to urgent care bc she obviously had an ear infection and it was Friday evening, bc of course it was. They tested for the flu and billed $500 for that nose swab. We were responsible for $258. Called about it like, those tests cost $20 at Walgreens? “Well that’s our price, your insurance approved it” “Insurance paid less than half of it, they can approve gouging me?” “That’s the price” “What’s the price if we are uninsured and pay cash?” “Prices change.” “Ok then bill me that” “We can’t if you’re insured.” Madness. Imagine going to a restaurant, ordering a coffee, drinking it, getting the bill for $500 and being told you’ll be sued if you don’t pay it. And you have zero recourse. Thanks Obama
Riley Gaines@Riley_Gaines_

It's been 7 months since we had our baby and we're still receiving unexplained hospital bills in the mail. Hardly ever an adequate description of services. Just a QR code to pay online. It feels intentionally confusing and difficult to get answers. We want price transparency.

No one is ready for the real solution to Gerrymandering: A return to the Constitution's original standard of 1 Member of Congress for every 30,000 Americans, resulting in an 11,000-member House with city-council sized districts so small you can't Gerrymander them if you tried.

“Wellington was an aristocrat who held that men of his stamp and talent were alone fitted to rule nations and command their armies. He was a creature of the ancien régime and waged war in its defence against the egalitarian forces released by the French Revolution. His successes did much to preserve the principle of aristocratic leadership in public life.” -The Iron Duke by Lawrence James We need more men like Wellington

@JamesSurowiecki The civics arguement is that the people express their preference for the exexutive power in the exact proportion they express their preference for the legisltive power. And that there is no National government under our constution. There is a Federal one.

The replies to this are so funny: 4000 people making the exact same bad arguments I've heard my whole life, as if they've somehow never been made before. I know the arguments for the EC - that's why I said there are no good ones. The US has only one office that's elected by American voters as a whole. The fact that we have a system that in that one race allows a minority of voters to dictate to the majority and decide who gets the office is ridiculous and stupidly anti-democratic. We're always going to have it, but that's a bad thing.

The media is paying attention to podcastistan breaking with Trump over Iran. What they really should be paying attention to are the Christian Trump supporters who have stood with him through Iran, who are waking up to his blasphemy. That's a bigger issue than podcastistan.

Be the EFF, a union between techno-libertarians and progressives. Spend decades fighting against censorship and for freedom online. See broad bipartisan appeal and receive praise. In the 2020s, progressives begin to take over, pushing "justice" and UN human rights mandates instead of original focused mandate. Slowly alienate libertarian-right support. 2026, leadership change, full progressive takeover. Seeing that they've alienated their bases they leave X because of crashing engagement (due to progressive takeover), dislike of Elon (he didn't want to enforce the UN speech restrictions on here), and general virtue signal among progressives that X is bad and anyone who engages is in the out group. Conquest's second law proven, yet again.
