May 19th 1965 - During a Kinks show, Dave Davies is knocked unconscious after performing two songs at Cardiff’s Capital Theatre. Mick Avory leaps from his seat in a flash & knocks Dave down with one punch, just two numbers into their set at the Capital, Davies apparently goaded him by saying: “Why don’t you get your cock out and play the snare with it? It’ll probably sound better.” Their rowdy onstage behavior led to the American Federation of Musicians refusing to let the group tour the States for the next 4 years, thereby cutting them off from US fans.
