@PankajS86202465 @trainwalebhaiya IR already connects Katra to Srinagar, two trains each way. These were always planned to be extended to Jammu pending station modernisation. High demand (consistent long WL), hence increasing # of coaches.

@trainwalebhaiya could you explain why not we go for new Vande Bharat? why we increase the no of coaches in place of new VB with different arrival time?

Have you noticed this trend: In the past few years, most new trains introduced by Indian Railways have been either Vande Bharat (premium, short-distance) or Amrit Bharat (non-AC, long-distance for lower fares). But where are the regular long-distance trains? Since COVID, very few new long-distance services have been introduced, and the impact is clearly visible. Getting a confirmed ticket on busy routes has become a nightmare. Instead, we see: • “Special” trains that aren't punctual • Additional halts slowing down existing services • Extensions of current trains instead of introducing new ones This isn’t about opposing Vande Bharat or Amrit Bharat, they serve their purpose well. But what about the millions of long-distance passengers? Most long-distance trains today are running over capacity, yet there’s little focus on expanding services, as a rail enthusiast, it’s hard to even recall a significant number of new long-distance trains added in recent years. It’s high time @RailMinIndia prioritizes new long-distance trains on high-demand routes.

@SergiiShymko As the famous saying goes, culture is who you hire, who you fire, and who you promote. And product is equal parts what you choose to build and what you refuse to build. Without the power to unilaterally control all of that, you cannot succeed.

@trainwalebhaiya @ramteja36 If we can build our way through Banihal pass, and build trains that run at 200+ Kmph then we can surely _begin to_ reduce the cases of ticketless travel, can't we now?

@ramteja36 We had one ADRM who tried his best, failed and left railways itself :) The problem is kuch worse than you think

If you ever wonder why AC coaches on trains in Bihar are so crowded, it’s because of people like these who take pride in travelling in AC class without a ticket. A trend that traces back to tenure of Lalu Prasad Yadav as Railway Minister which has now become a habit.

@RealSinghsays @trainwalebhaiya Off the top of my head: show legit wait listed ticket and get a reduction in fine. It is a good bet that most of the people caught can't/don't even bother with that. Then, campaign, work on increasing trains.

@trainwalebhaiya What about the problem when someone wants to purchase tickets but he cannot get so whether due to waiting list issue or the Tatkal booking scam

One ticket check boosted ticket sales by 40%. Let that sink in, nearly 40% of passengers were travelling without tickets, and the same people demand world-class trains. PS: Before asking why Railways don’t deploy more ticket-checking staff, ask this: Why can’t people simply follow the rules? This mindset “hum toh bina ticket travel karenge, tum aur checking badhao” isn’t governance failure, it’s civic failure. When such a large share travels ticketless, no amount of staff will ever be enough.

@trainwalebhaiya @ramteja36 "_ADRM_ who tried" - that there is the problem. Culture changes from the top. One ADRM (bless him) is not going to cut it, not in an organisation of this size.

@trainwalebhaiya Eternal vigilance is the price of hassle-free travel (apologies to Jefferson). Policing duties come with the power. So: more automatic doors in coaches, barriers at large stations, ticket checking, tougher punishment for repeat offenders etc.

Sci-Hub is an evil website that pirated 85M+ research papers and made them freely available And now they've added AI to their database to make Sci-Bot. It answers your questions using latest, full-text articles. But DO NOT use it. We should all try to make billion-dollar academic publishers richer. I'm putting the link below so you know how to avoid it.

The trouble with @svembu's appeal to NRIs is that it continues to demand more sacrifices from Indians while demanding no change from India's governments. Resident Indians have more than enough talent in every domain but they are already choked. He makes no attempt to demand removal of existing bottlenecks. It's not TALENT that India is starved of, it is ACCOUNTABILITY. Some reform ideas which I'd like to see implemented in India: - (0) Improve nutrition and environmental safety. Safe air, water and food is the bare minimum expectation. - (1) Encourage skin-in-the-game for political and administrative leaders (for eg: require an exit tax for them and their kids). - (2) Radical transparency in govt systems. Anonymized files should be digital and public by default, unless marked confidential for valid reasons. - (3) Increase actual Ease of Doing Business (eg: improve contract enforcement). - (4) Discourage young talented people from wasting away their most precious years into civil services exam prep, or pseudo-scientific professions like degrees in AYUSH. - (5) Do not allow the world to dump inferior hardware and software products on Indians. Insist on interoperability, technology transfer and repairability by third-parties. - (6) Prepare the workforce for the future: For eg: Decrease the number of specializations by bundling subjects in Engg, achieving a better balance of employability and national interest. - (7) Reduce the need for affirmative action in later years by improving access in earlier years. - (8) Create conditions for healthy competition among states so that we can have more experiments in governance.

This house is less than ₹5cr (£0.5M). Less than 30min commute to anywhere in central London. Indian property markets makes no sense to me after seeing the market here 🥲 (+ has huge backyard, kids can play football in)

Noticed something interesting. MAHSR tracks will pass over an active Narrow Gauge track (Bilimora - Waghai) - one of the few NG tracks which will not be gauge converted. What a sight it would be!

in my personal opinion, anyone who sends a record of the code they write, and a record of their thought process,to a third party, constantly, and then pays for this privilege to "10x" their "performance" needs their head examined. That's just me though. ymmv.

People i know are hitting retirement age, and realizing, horrified that all they know is how to build basic CRUD apps, a skill not particularly valued in old people, and look forward to a bleak post retirement life, sitting in the sun and mumbling about the good old days!
