🔔Collab alert I am currently working on some cool EEG signal processing projects (algorithm development). Master’s/PhD students interested in EEG, signal processing, or linear algebra, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to provide supervision! #EEG #Collab #SignalProcessing

Excited to share our new paper in B-ENT Journal on how the brain responds to speech across different modalities (audiovisual, auditory, visual) using fNIRS! Explore the localization of cortical responses in normal-hearing adults #fNIRS #SpeechProcessing #Neuroimaging

@asta_haukas Do you think people speaking a second language tend to use more complex language? It seems like clear communication would be easier in their first language.

Good writing isn’t about using big words or complex sentences. It’s about clarity, simplicity, and getting our message across in the most impactful way. #WritingTips #KeepItSimple

Looking for a postdoc position in a timing research lab starting this Summer or Fall (2025)! I do scalp and stereo EEG but I'd love a grant-writing-heavy position if anyone has one available :)

Figured out how to describe my experience in Europe: In the East, "indirect speech and metaphors" cause misunderstandings, while in the West, "surface-level politeness" twists the true meaning. Now comment, is this tweet more metaphorical or polite?

@JoshJalali If you read through all this thread, then okay, I’ll take your advice. Otherwise, just retweet instead of leaving that not-so-helpful comment, dude.

@BANDLabUM Interesting! Would you mind sharing one of the underlying mechanisms you’ve discovered through this type of alpha dynamics tracking?

I don’t dare ‘delve’ into anything as a non-native English speaker. It’s not authentic, but it’s not absurd either, right? I know, I know “delve’” is a real English word, and people use it too! But I still don’t dare to use it!

🔔 Collab Alert! Are any postdocs interested in working on the relationship between #EEG #microstates, #subspace clustering, #sparsity, and #alpha oscillations in continuous EEG signals? I’ve got fresh ideas and developed materials to share! DM or email if you're interested!

@dvwz Great paper! I’ve been wondering about something fundamental—after doing all this alpha-related work, do you think it’s time to separate peak frequency and spatial aspects of alpha into two different mechanisms? or are you more in the camp that there’s just one alpha?

I just posted a major piece of my graduate research, where we used global coherence (previously used with EEG recordings of general anesthesia) to characterize coherent networks of alpha oscillations in disorders of consciousness medrxiv.org/content/10.110…

@Nathan_Spreng @OHBM @jmacshine There should have been at least some mention of oscillations and how important they are in cognition and nonlinear dynamics. I don’t have a specific reference, but I was mostly thinking about the bigger picture, and there are plenty of references out there for that
