@eiszett @codetalkio That was well before LLMs … but it was a simple oversight trivial to correct, yet sneaked in. For some people here this is enough to claim you suck at your job … go figure.

Occasional errors and oversights are part of science. If we lost our driver’s license for a year every time we exceeded the speed limit by 10 km/h, daily life would become unworkable. Many countries instead use point systems, where trust can be rebuilt through good behavior.

@codetalkio @eiszett Once my student submitted a paper with author’s names on it to a conference that is supposed to be double blind. Paper was desk rejected — fair enough. But a ban from submission for all co-authors would be very disproportionate in such a case don’ you agree?

@avzaagzonunaada @phono_logical Kept forgetting to ask people! Finally did. Of 10 people, mostly Albertans, two dropped the /h/.
Two Maritimers were split, so if we drop them it’s 1/8 dropped the /h/. The Albertan who did has generally innovative speech—eg: stressed /h/ sometimes becomes /x/ or similar.

@eiszett Have you read all the sources you ever cited? During my PhD we, along with dozens of other papers, cited a paper that I later found did not contain the result for which it was commonly cited. I should be banned I guess.

@SkarlonYGO To everyone in my replies saying dying light…. You’re just wrong. I’ve played them and yes you may not be “running in a straight line” all the time but that game has even less controls for parkour than AC 😭 that game is literally just run and jump. It’s just cool animations.

do you ever think about how peppers seem to be empty yet they don't contain air, but rather a mix of gasses which have different proportions than normal air (as well as elevated levels of carbon dioxide) that fluctuate as the pepper grows? I think about that a lot
