The industrial revolution transformed teaching into an enormous profession and put kids in school a whole lot more. And yet the tech world is very confident that education will be destroyed by AI.

@mpershan I've seen multiple professors say they now quiz students on the content of essays they turn in.

I don't have any quick solutions to LLM cheating (and I don't teach this stuff) but I think people talking about this need to do a better job distinguishing between practice and assessment.

When students retake exams the HIGHEST grade should be recorded in the gradebook, NOT an average grades. The goal is to showcase a student’s level of understanding.
