You should read more. The Parthenon is a VERY local building, with its decorarion reflecting purely Athenian myths like the fight between Athena and Poseidon for who should be the patron of Attica, or the celebration in marble of the Panathenaic procession, is this is indeed what that is. The Acropolis was NOT a panhellenic sanctuary and the Parthenon had full meaning only as a purely Athenian (local) celebration When it comes to empires, the only link berween the Parthenon and empire is though the Athenian Empire, with its construction funded with the allied money appropriated by Athens. The removal of the marbles has nothing to dp with the British Empire, as ir was a purely private enterprise. Your last point can stay there where it is, I couldn't care less.

@Telegraph @elginmarbles Calling the Parthenon “just a local building” while defending imperial-era removal of its sculptures is not “truth”. It’s ideological cope disguised as scholarship. And the “I was cancelled” drama is embarrassing. People disagreeing with you is not persecution.

@elginmarbles @britishmuseum @YouTube The Turkish say the title chain is defective legally. Respond to that. If it’s defective, on what legal grounds did Elgin remove the sculptures? Vai, professore, rispondi

@pavlos81 @britishmuseum @YouTube Getting the support of the very people you accuse of selling offf your heritage to Elgin is really scraping the bottom of the barrel. To demonstrate what? That she doesn't even know the history of the Marbles? Just pathetic.

@elginmarbles Great interview, sorry you were cancelled. Your 2 main points on why the marbles should stay in London are persuasive. Is it pertinent also that the wealth of Athens/Greece was gained to some extent through conquering and plundering. Everyone did it.

@ecolitical @Telegraph This story of the "objects on the ground only" always fascinates me. Care to share the primary source you use to back this claim up? I only ask because sure as hell it is not in the firman

@Telegraph @elginmarbles The British Museum legally bought the marbles from the government, which had taken them from Elgin in lieu of his heavy tax debts. But they were illegally taken down from the Parthenon by Elgin’s official, who had the right from the Persian authority only to objects on the ground.
