ICU doc here, please don’t drink this. According to the label, this energy drink contains adrafinil, which is a prodrug of modafinil - a potent stimulant. Adrafinil is unapproved & modafenil is Schedule IV. Selling either as an “energy drink” is definitely a crime. @US_FDA

@JurgaTomek It tends to be a good motivator for lifestyle modifications in patients with diabetes risk factors. Or in patients with PCOS and hyperinsulinemia we might start metformin which tends to help with weight loss.

Question to my fellow #cardiology clinicians: Who out there is measuring fasting insulin levels? I'm not familiar with any recs from AHA, ACC, or ESC. Hyperinsulinemia is a risk for ASCVD, but with the available labs we have at our disposal, is a fasting insulin really useful?
