I don't love donor-dependent NGOs providing services like this instead of more stable gov programs, but they do aa good a job as any other.

@HPluckrose To be clear, I think safe and affordable childcare should be available because it’s good for kids, and families (women) shouldn’t have to labor 7 days a week. Institutional care has been a part of this for over 100 years, it’s just newly subsidized for lower paid workers.

My grandma was a nurse in an urban hospital in the late 50s-60s. She traded childcare among her coworkers, the woman with the day off watched all the kids.
These arrangements still exist, but Twitter discourse is mostly upper middle class people who pay for professional care or

Then of the half that do, add many still working, some too frail, you’re left with a small number where that’s even possible. I agree, we need solutions and we have needed them for 50+ years.
