No.154 - No it's not quite December yet but here is my personal #Christmas card for this year. All printed and ready to be written and inspired by a @TfL photo! @patricialondon fancy that magic carpet trip to put the star on St Paul's? #drawingoftheday
Let’s talk about the legal problems Elon just created for himself with this cruel new staff email.
You’re fired if you don’t commit to long hours at high intensity within 24 hours?
Let’s start with disabled workers.
I hate so much all that cost of living advice that is basically “give up anything that might bring you a modicum of joy during these rancid times so that you can afford to simply exist as a husk otherwise you are not worthy of support because you’re not doing the most you can”
@cycnet@hansmollman Definitely the government could/should do more. But times are hard primarily because of the pandemic and Russian war. It should go hand in hand that us individuals and the government should do our bit. The OP suggested that it’s only the government that is responsible to get by
@reece_dinsdale Idiots and Remainers like you should ask yourself's are the countries that are in the EU in a better place No they are worse off 🤷♂️🙄🙄🤬
@t18306780@reece_dinsdale It’s not a football match. It’s not one nil to the Brexiteers and game over. We’re supposed to see some positives from this major change in direction. So the grown ups are actually the ones still asking to see results, not the ones just happy to “win” on election day.
@BenZaranko One reason may be they are seeing more complex cases due to delays due to covid which means additional time and resource to look after poorlier patients? And this in turn is having a knock on effect with more people waiting longer making symptoms more acute?
And over the first 9 months of 2022, the NHS treated 5% (~ 650,000) fewer people than during the first 9 months of 2019.
The target of increasing volumes by 30% by 2024–25 looks increasingly ambitious and potentially beyond reach.
The NHS waiting list in England (the ‘backlog’) now stands at 7.1 million, 60% higher than pre-pandemic.
This backlog is still growing month on month. Why? And what would it take for it to start falling?

@LauraChurchward@EmilPohl2 It’s yellow cars in this household.
I am on high alert as my children created again where the rules are they can punch me on the arm if they spot one before me. Note: this is a v dangerous game to play in the car.
@happykerching@LibyanIntegrity@Caza25866229@BeckettUnite If it’s around average starting salary then that average includes minimum wage and unskilled roles. If you strip that out and compare it with other highly skilled roles which require degrees I suspect it would come a long way down the list
@elmer_julia@LibyanIntegrity@Caza25866229@BeckettUnite I've never disputed the entry is getting harder and harder I:ve seen it with my Son , My initial point was pay where starting salaries are pushed as the norm it's a starting salary !! And he and many of his colleagues are happy on their jobs unison have them as distraught , broke
• NHS Hospital Canteen: ‘Single Tuna sarnie’ costing £3.00 for nurses, paid for out of their own wage
• Houses of Parliament: ‘Rum banana tarte tatin with rum and raisin ice cream’ for the princely sum of £2.37 for MPs, paid for by you the taxpayer
Nurses’ fight is our fight.
@happykerching@LibyanIntegrity@Caza25866229@BeckettUnite What? No obviously not.
I’m saying that the conditions are getting harder and harder for nurses and the profession is getting less and less attractive for new entrants.
